Job Description
At Doubletree Hotel Austin in Austin, TX, this on-site Hotel Maintenance Engineer role supports the day-to-day upkeep of hotel systems, guest spaces, and exterior areas. The position focuses on preventative maintenance, repairs, and routine service to help keep guests comfortable, operations running smoothly, and facilities aligned with applicable codes.
Working as part of the engineering team, you will help maintain building-related systems and the building envelope, while supporting energy efficiency through ongoing improvements and careful attention to maintenance programs and standard operating procedures.
Job Purpose
- Maintain all building related systems and the building envelop to ensure the safety of hotel guests, associates, and vendors.
- Ensure compliance with company Engineering Assumptions/Culture, preventative maintenance programs and procedures, Standard Operating Procedures, Mission Vision and Values, and all Building/Fire/Health Department codes.
- Support the building complex to operate as energy efficient as possible, constantly looking for ways to save energy.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with preventative maintenance and complete report work orders, including tasks such as replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs, and patching vinyl, while maintaining product quality standards.
- Complete preventative maintenance assignments on a scheduled basis (for example, “room care”).
- Assist with checks of electrical systems including air conditioning controls, television sets, lighting systems, and complete minor repairs and/or replacement.
- Assist with routine repairs and support major repairs for hotel equipment, including small appliances, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, boilers, pool equipment, HVAC systems, hand and power tools, and general plumbing systems and fixtures (pipelines, toilets, sinks, kitchen and laundry equipment).
- Service the hotel pool, including adjusting chemicals, cleaning filters, completing maintenance request forms, and maintaining record logs.
- Maintain the building exterior and support curb appeal through activities such as snow removal, lawn care, painting, and gardening.
- Refurbish furniture and fixtures within guest rooms, such as cabinets, tables, chairs, doors, windows, and counters; paint and finish items when needed.
- Respond courteously to guest questions, complaints, and requests to help ensure strong guest satisfaction.
- Perform duties involving exposure to extreme temperatures and the operation of heavy machinery.
- Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
- Complete any other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience (minimum).
- Vocational schooling, military training, certification and/or experience in building related trades required in one or more areas: HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, and Carpentry.
- Hotel experience preferred.
- Ability to climb, read, stand, walk, and routinely lift 25 lbs to 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to receive instructions and communicate progress of work assignments.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to adapt communication style for different audiences, including supervisors, coworkers, and the public.
Compensation and Location
- Location: Austin, TX (onsite)
- Pay: USD 20–23 per hour
