Hotel Maintenance Engineer
Job Description
Hotel Houze is seeking a proactive Hotel Maintenance Engineer in Detroit, MI (onsite) to keep hotel facilities and building systems operating safely and reliably. This role focuses on maintenance inspections, troubleshooting, repair work, and supporting an excellent guest experience through timely service requests.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine inspections and preventative maintenance across electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning), and other building systems to support optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues by using schematics, electrical experience, and diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters.
- Complete repair and upgrade work as needed, including welding and residential painting.
- Operate Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) to manage automated building systems effectively.
- Maintain precise documentation of maintenance work using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Read and interpret schematics and technical manuals to diagnose issues accurately.
- Oversee facilities maintenance projects, ensuring timely completion while complying with safety regulations.
- Support hotel functionality by assisting with manufacturing or large-scale facility operations when required.
- Provide customer service by responding promptly to guest or staff maintenance requests with professionalism and courtesy.
- Supervise junior maintenance staff or contractors during projects or repairs, providing leadership and ensuring safety standards are met.
Requirements
- Strong electrical experience, including the ability to troubleshoot wiring issues and read schematics.
- Mechanical knowledge covering HVAC systems, plumbing, and general building maintenance.
- Proficiency using diagnostic tools including ohmmeters and multimeters, as well as related equipment.
- Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) for automation control systems.
- Skills in welding and residential painting for repairs or renovations.
- Familiarity with facilities maintenance procedures within hospitality or manufacturing environments.
- Supervising experience leading maintenance teams or contractors on complex projects.
- Excellent communication skills in English for clear reporting and coordination.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and facility layouts effectively.
- Knowledge of CMMS software for tracking work orders, inventory management, and maintenance history.
- Leadership qualities with a focus on safety standards, quality assurance, and team motivation.
