Job Description

The Housekeeping Coordinator supports housekeeping operations across assigned sections and steps in to perform Housekeeping Manager duties when the role is unavailable. This onsite position is based in Miami, FL and focuses on maintaining service standards, monitoring productivity, and ensuring smooth daily floor operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect Room Attendants’ performance daily within the assigned section to confirm standards and productivity levels are met and sustained.
  • In the absence of the Housekeeping Manager or Assistant Housekeeping Manager, inspect all V.I.P. rooms and report availability to the Front Office according to hotel standards.
  • Oversee end-of-day floor closing activities, ensuring Room Attendants’ carts are clean and restocked.
  • Confirm daily assignment records are completed, signed off, and submitted to the Housekeeping Office on time.
  • Maintain key control procedures.
  • Handle items for Lost and Found in line with established standards.
  • Monitor cleanliness and organization of Room Attendants’ carts, linen closets, control closets, stairways, and landings.
  • Oversee daily duty assignments to ensure Room Attendants and House Attendants each have an active work assignment.
  • Carry an active pager and/or radio throughout the shift to stay in contact with the Front Office and/or Engineering.
  • Provide updates on the progress of out-of-order rooms under the Housekeeping Department’s supervision to the Guest Services Manager, as required.
  • Initiate work orders for repairs and maintenance, forward them to Engineering, and follow through until each request is completed.
  • Assist with training of Housekeeping staff.
  • May be required to clean rooms based on business needs.
  • Ensure completion of cleaning projects on a biannual basis.
  • Support overall guest satisfaction through consistent housekeeping execution.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • College course work in a related field is helpful.
  • At least two to three years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field is preferred.
  • Previous supervisory responsibility is preferred.
  • Ability to stand during the entire shift.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with employees and guests at all levels in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.

Additional Information

This role is an onsite housekeeping coordination position with a requirement for pager and radio communication during the shift. When needed, the coordinator administers housekeeping functions for assigned sections and assumes Housekeeping Manager responsibilities in the role’s absence.
