Job Description

The Housekeeping Supervisor at YVE Hotel Miami coordinates housekeeping operations across assigned areas and steps in for Housekeeping Manager duties when needed. The position focuses on supervising room and housekeeping staff, maintaining room readiness and cleanliness standards, supporting VIP room handling, and contributing to overall guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect Room Attendants’ work performance daily within assigned sections to ensure standards and productivity levels are met and sustained.
  • In the absence of the Housekeeping Manager or Assistant Housekeeping Manager, inspect all V.I.P. rooms and report their availability to the Front Office in accordance with hotel standards.
  • Oversee floor closing at the end of each day, confirming Room Attendants’ carts are clean and restocked.
  • Ensure daily assignment records are completed, signed off, and submitted to the Housekeeping Office on time.
  • Maintain key control and manage “Lost and Found” items according to established standards.
  • Monitor cleanliness and orderliness of Room Attendants’ carts, linen closets, control closets, stairways, and landings.
  • Oversee the daily assignment of duties so Room Attendants and House Attendants have active work assignments.
  • Carry an active pager or radio to stay in contact with the Front Office and/or Engineering throughout the shift.
  • Report the status and progress of all out-of-order rooms under the Housekeeping Department’s supervision to the Guest Services Manager according to standards.
  • Initiate repair and maintenance work orders and forward them to Engineering; follow through on each work order until completion.
  • Assist with training of Housekeeping staff.
  • May be required to clean rooms as business needs dictate.
  • Ensure completion of cleaning projects on a biannual basis.
  • Support overall guest satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Additional education: College course work in a related field is helpful.
  • Experience: At least two to three years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
  • Supervisory experience: Previous supervisory responsibility preferred.
  • Physical ability: Ability to stand during the entire shift.
  • Communication: Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
