Laundry Attendant

Responsibilities

• Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming.
• Wear name tag when working.
• Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.
• Be attentive, courteous and efficient in dealings with guests, managers and coworkers.
• Comply with compliance standards and regulations to ensure safe and efficient hotel operations.
• Establish and maintain clear communication and teamwork with fellow employees and other departments within the hotel.
• Develop a team player attitude for the good of the hotel.
• Responsible for pre-inspection, pre-spot, wash, dry and fold linens.
• Wash, fold and dry linens within scheduled times.
• Maintain linens in a presentable and sanitary condition.
• Perform other duties of a housekeeper if necessary.
• Capable of lifting up to 25 pounds to load and unload washers and dryers.
• Able to push up to 75 pounds (full laundry cart) as required.
• Capable of using both hands to fold/scrub linens and scrub pots.
• Practice safe use of all cleaning agents.
• Follow safety practices such as wearing PPE and reading chemical warning labels.
• Operate industrial washers, dryers and related equipment.
• Understand and adhere to Federal and State regulations regarding hazardous materials.
• Participate in all-employee meetings, events and functions required by management.
• Be familiar with hotel policies, rules and terminology.
• Possess self supervision and time management to complete the required work.
• Attend meetings as required by management.
• Perform any other duties as requested by management.

Requirements

• Ability to communicate effectively with a predominantly Spanish speaking team.
• Long hours sometimes required.
• Light work - Exerting up to 75 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects.
• Ability to stand during the entire shift.
• Ability to reach overhead, utilize both hands, bend over, stoop and kneel.
• Ability to operate equipment such as industrial washing machines and dryers.
• Capable of climbing and descending stairs during the shift.
• Must be able to work in an extremely dusty environment.
• Ability to understand and follow directions, guidelines and work objectives as set by the supervisor.
• Understand potential hazards and procedures involved in working with cleaning agents and light machinery.
• Use common sense and integrity to ensure the security of guest belongings while working in guest suites.
