Job Description

Maintain day-to-day hotel systems and respond to repairs onsite to keep equipment running with minimal downtime.

Key responsibilities

  • Complete maintenance work orders from all departments on a timely basis by following hotel standard operating procedures
  • Respond to and attend to guest repair requests
  • Welcome and acknowledge guests according to company standards; anticipate needs and address concerns
  • Operate and support advanced electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and boiler systems
  • Review PMS (Property Management System) for new maintenance requests and update remarks after completion
  • Update maintenance work order forms / job cards and file records
  • Interpret readings from meters, gauges, and other measuring units
  • Prioritize and organize work assignments, including under pressure situations with sound judgment
  • Maintain attention to detail, speed, and accuracy
  • Maintain confidentiality of guest and hotel information
  • Ensure security of guest room access and hotel property
  • Read and understand test equipment, measuring devices, and safety manuals
  • Perform guest room maintenance including plunging toilets, unclogging drains, repairing hardware, electrical equipment (including lamps), air conditioners / HVAC, and AC ducts
  • Perform maintenance in hotel public areas including plunging toilets, unclogging drains, repairing hardware, plumbing, electrical equipment, and cosmetic items
  • Program TVs and support general housekeeping and engineering-related inventory duties
  • Test, troubleshoot, and complete basic repairs on equipment
  • Clean, lubricate, protect, and maintain hotel tools and equipment
  • Work independently as a mechanic by analyzing problems, selecting course(s) of action, and implementing solutions with available resources at a high quality level
  • Be available for emergencies and act in an engineering capacity to protect guests and associates and preserve the building and systems during emergencies
  • Monitor Fire Alarm / Life Safety System operations as necessary and respond to emergencies involving these systems
  • Read and understand blueprints, schematic drawings, and technical parts breakdown
  • Carry out specific oral and written instructions
  • Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed
  • Maintain clean and professional uniform and personal appearance, protect company assets, and handle proprietary information confidentially
  • Maintain the hotel facility and related equipment safely and efficiently
  • Complete other duties assigned by the Engineering Supervisor or Chief Engineer
  • Train and instruct other staff by sharing knowledge and skills

Required education

  • ITI or diploma holder in Air conditioning and refrigeration or electrical or civil or mechanical

Experience

  • Minimum 1 to 2 years experience in a similar role
  • Good understanding of English, written and oral

Language skills

  • Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Write simple correspondence
  • Present information effectively in one-on-one and small group situations

Mathematical skills

  • Add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply and divide with 10s and 100s
  • Perform calculations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance

Reasoning ability

  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

Work environment

  • Frequently works near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places; in outside weather conditions; and with explosives
  • Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration
  • Noise level is usually moderate
