Overnight Auditor
Job Description
At Hotel 1868 LLC, the Overnight Auditor plays a key role in keeping the hotel running smoothly from the close of day to the start of the next shift. This onsite position in Cambridge, MA combines guest-facing responsibilities with detailed nightly auditing and reconciliation to support accurate reporting and a well-prepared lobby and breakfast.
Working an overnight schedule, you will manage guest check-in and check-out, respond to reservation requests, and complete the nightly audit workflow across hotel systems. The role reports to the Front Desk Manager/Operations Manager and helps ensure readiness, financial accuracy, and consistent guest service throughout the night.
Responsibilities
- Check in and check out guests while maintaining the confidentiality of guest information
- Handle reservation inquiries, including cancellations and amendments
- Support guest satisfaction by following and upholding the highest quality of guest service
- Follow the shift checklist and accurately record notes throughout the shift
- Run audit reports and journals from all credit card and computer systems
- Reconcile credit card systems (Shift4) with night audit reports for inhouse guests and folios
- Balance revenue and settlement accounts nightly, maintain files, and reset the system for next day operations
- Input revenue, expenses, and allowances to generate required daily reports and other reports listed on the nightly audit checklist
- Review and verify rate changes on in-house guests and correct discrepancies
- Reconcile valet and daily charges with the valet company and complete any other required reporting
- Perform accurate cash handling procedures and safety deposit box procedures
- Monitor lobby traffic and control the flow of non-guests entering the hotel when needed
- Review VIP reservations for incoming and in-house guests
- Prepare the lobby and breakfast for the oncoming shift
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of service standards, guest relations, and etiquette
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of applicable Federal, state, and local health and safety regulations
- Communicate effectively in English with guests and associates
- Demonstrate excellent mathematical and computer skills and remain awake and alert during the entire shift
Requirements
- Conduct yourself professionally, including acts and dress, and set standards for associates
- Verbally communicate effectively with guests, vendors, and other associates
- Assist with the preparation of statistical reports and presentations as needed
- Accurately report information
- Remain calm and alert during emergencies or heavy hotel activity
- Resolve guest complications such as location changes or credit issues
- Field guest complaints and develop effective solutions and results

- High school education and or relevant training and experience required; additional education preferred
- Additional language ability preferred

Compensation and Benefits
- USD 19 - 21 per hour based on previous experience
- 3 weeks paid time off available to be accrued per year
