Job Description

The Overnight Maintenance Technician plays a key role in keeping Hotel Indigo Huntsville MidCity operating at its best during overnight hours. This position focuses on facility and equipment reliability through inspections, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and support for guest needs.

Role Summary

In this onsite role in Huntsville, AL, the Overnight Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring optimal operation and maintenance of facilities and equipment. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, performing repairs, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with overnight requests and concerns.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on machinery, electrical systems, and building infrastructure to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems using schematics, technical manuals, and diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters.
  • Operate programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to monitor and control automated processes within manufacturing or facility operations.
  • Conduct welding repairs and fabrications as needed to support equipment or structural maintenance projects.
  • Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to diagnose issues and implement accurate solutions.
  • Maintain detailed maintenance activity records using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Supervise or assist with residential painting projects or other facilities upkeep tasks to help meet safety standards.
  • Meet guest needs on overnight requests and issues.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Proven experience in facilities maintenance or manufacturing environments with a strong mechanical background.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, schematics, and troubleshooting techniques; PLC experience is highly desirable.
  • Skilled in welding techniques; familiarity with residential painting practices is a plus.
  • Ability to read technical diagrams and schematics and use diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters effectively.
  • Strong English communication skills for clear documentation and team collaboration.
  • Supervising experience or demonstrated leadership capabilities in maintenance settings preferred.
  • Familiarity with CMMS software for work order management and record keeping.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical components, mechanical systems, and general facilities maintenance tasks.
