Room Inspector
Job Description
At Black Oak Casino Hotel, the Room Inspector plays an essential role in keeping guest accommodations clean, welcoming, and fully prepared. This onsite position in Tuolumne, CA focuses on reviewing and verifying room readiness with a strong emphasis on safety, efficiency, professionalism, and friendly guest service.
Working with Hotel Housekeeping Management, you will inspect rooms cleaned by Guest Room Attendants and complete the required documentation to reflect each area’s cleanliness and condition in line with hotel policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and review room assignments, the type of cleaning required, and the keys and supplies provided by Hotel Housekeeping Management.
- Enter guest rooms only after following access procedures and ensuring the room is vacant before entry.
- Inspect linens and towels, beds, bathrooms, floors, windows, mirrors, and walls for cleanliness and condition.
- Perform quality checks on the television, telephone, heating/air conditioning, and lights.
- Clean and stock guest rooms with the appropriate supplies according to policies and procedures.
- Complete all required housekeeping paperwork and checklists to report cleanliness and condition for each assigned area.
- Respond promptly to guest requests and other department needs; immediately resolve housekeeping requests and complaints raised by guests.
- Provide timely feedback to team members regarding any guest room cleaning deficiencies in a pleasant and professional manner.
- Share accurate, unbiased input to the Supervisor/Manager based on performance observations for recognition or coaching opportunities.
- Answer questions related to resort services and events, directions, and local attractions, as needed.
- Report any incidents of guest dissatisfaction or other unusual matters of significance to the Supervisor/Manager so corrective action can be taken.
- Deliver articles left in guest rooms after checkout to Hotel Housekeeping Management for entry into Lost and Found.
- Promptly report emergencies, accidents, injuries, missing articles, damage, mechanical problems, and safety hazards to Hotel Housekeeping Management.
- Write shift reports when assigned, including documentation on theft, accidents, or injuries.
- Ensure all communication that includes Tuolumne Band of Me-Wuk Indians, TEDA, Inc., Black Oak Casino Resort, and guest information follows privacy policies and practices.
- Perform other duties and attend to special projects as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent.
- At least 18 years old.
- Completion of Blood Borne Pathogen training.
- Three (3) or more years of experience in a high quality housekeeping environment in the hospitality industry, with existing knowledge of common industry terms and practices preferred.
- Ability to understand and provide friendly guest service.
- Ability to understand and comply with the proper use of cleaning equipment, supplies, cleaning techniques, procedures, and hotel standards.
- Ability to operate a clock radio, lamp, coffee maker, phone, TV, and other guest room equipment.
- Ability to complete assigned rooms, identify and investigate issues, and resolve basic matters in a timely manner.
- Strong attention to detail plus excellent organization and time management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment (sometimes under pressure) while staying professional, flexible, and efficient.
- Proficiency in communicating in English.
- May be required to possess and maintain a valid California driver license and a Black Oak Casino driver’s permit.
- Ability to pass a mandatory drug test and background check.
- Evidence of employment eligibility in the U.S.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds and occasionally lift more with assistance.
- Must be physically able to perform all job requirements.
- Safety precautions and applicable protective equipment are required due to exposure to hazards or physical risks.
Work Environment
- Exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals, dirt, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
- Potential exposure to infectious diseases.
