Historic Bullock Hotel is hiring a Cook for an onsite, paid in-person position in Deadwood, SD. Responsibilities

As part of the culinary team, you will prepare and cook meals by established recipes, menus, and dietary guidelines, with a focus on food quality and presentation.

• Prepare and cook meals according to established recipes, menus, and dietary guidelines while maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation
• Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, mixers, slicers, and other culinary tools
• Follow food safety protocols in every stage of preparation, including proper handling, storage, and sanitation
• Support menu planning by suggesting innovative dishes or modifications to meet dietary needs and preferences
• Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and kitchen areas to support a hygienic environment in line with safety standards
• Coordinate with kitchen staff and dietary aides to support meal service and help ensure timely delivery of orders
• Assist with catering events or special meal preparations as needed, demonstrating flexibility and attention to detail

Requirements

• Proven experience in food preparation in a restaurant or food industry setting; dietary department or dietary aide experience is a plus
• Strong knowledge of food safety management practices and adherence to safety standards in production environments
• Skilled in culinary techniques including knife skills, slicing methods, and recipe adherence
• Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
• Excellent communication skills for coordination with kitchen staff and service teams
• Experience in meal preparation, food handling, and serving in fast-paced environments
• Catering procedures and food service operations experience is desirable
• Proactive attitude toward cleaning routines and maintaining a sanitary workspace

Compensation and Schedule

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 24.0 – 40.0 per week
Work location: In person
