Responsibilities
- Set up, restock, maintain, and clean food preparation areas to keep service running smoothly.
- Monitor the quality and consistency of all food served, including portioning and plate presentation.
- Prepare food to order using working menus and hotel brand specifics.
- Follow sanitation procedures and apply sanitary food handling practices at all times.
- Replenish items throughout breakfast hours, including coffee, tea, and condiments in the lobby area.
- Order or purchase food and beverage products and ensure proper storage.
- Complete daily general cleaning duties in designated areas.
- Clean and maintain breakfast equipment and items such as dishware, glassware, coffee pots, and specialty equipment (including waffle maker).
- Respond to guest needs and requests while maintaining a high level of cleanliness and attention.
- Maintain work areas that are clean and organized, and report unsafe conditions immediately.
- Ensure regular and reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Support cross-training and complete other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Treat coworkers with respect and work in a positive, productive way that encourages teamwork.
Requirements
- Food Handlers and an OLCC permit.
- Cash handling experience.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Effective time management, including planning, prioritizing, and delegating.
- Ability to maintain and exceed hotel brand standards for food and beverage quality.
- Follow all safety procedures and food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Ability to work under time constraints in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrate kind, courteous behavior toward coworkers and communicate effectively with team members and management.
- Follow all appropriate policies and procedures while continuously improving operational standards.
- Provide prompt, courteous service to guests to support high-quality guest experiences.
- Meet or exceed productivity standards.
Physical Requirements
May include lifting and carrying food trays, beverage containers, boxes of food, glass racks, and garbage bags. Average weight of 15–45 lbs frequently, with occasional maximum weight of 75 lbs. Standing and walking up to two miles per day on cement, tile, asphalt, and carpet. Reaching and overhead extension for pulling items down and lifting garbage bags. Pushing and pulling handcarts with frequent weights of 50–75 lbs and occasional maximum weight of 100 lbs. Repetitive bending, kneeling, stooping, and twisting.
Working Conditions
The role involves exposure to fumes, chemicals, vibrations, humidity, cold, heat, dust, and noise, and includes working with kitchen equipment such as ovens, slicers, toasters, waffle makers, and coffee makers. Must adhere to the hotel’s safety standards and procedures, including use of appropriate hearing, eye, and hand protection during equipment operation.
