Job Description

Hotel Hartness is looking for an Engineering/Maitenance Technician in Greenville, SC (onsite) to keep every part of the property running safely, efficiently, and guest-ready. This is a hands-on role supporting day-to-day operations across guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house systems, with clear priorities and a work order process that helps work move efficiently through the team.

What you’ll do

  • Complete day-to-day general maintenance and repairs in guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house, and grounds.
  • Respond to maintenance requests through the Quore work order system, prioritizing urgent, guest-facing needs.
  • Perform preventive maintenance following the property PM schedule.
  • Troubleshoot and assist with repairs to plumbing, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and refrigeration systems.
  • Help monitor and maintain building systems including boilers, HVAC units, lighting, fire alarms, and life safety systems.
  • Handle light interior work such as light carpentry, painting, drywall repair, tiling, grouting, caulking, and fixture replacements.
  • Support exterior upkeep and seasonal grounds needs, such as snow removal, salting walkways, or landscaping support.
  • Maintain an organized engineering workspace, including tools, storage rooms, and mechanical areas.
  • Operate equipment and follow processes according to manufacturer guidelines.
  • Assist with set-up and breakdown of events when needed.
  • Communicate progress, safety issues, and escalations with the Engineering Manager and the Front Office team.

Safety and compliance

You’ll work safely in line with OSHA regulations, property safety policies, and standard operating procedures, including quick and safe response when emergencies come up.

What we’re looking for

  • 1–3 years of hands-on maintenance experience preferred (hotel, resort, or facilities setting a plus).
  • Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic instruments.
  • Familiarity with reading blueprints, manuals, or schematics is a plus.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical training preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate utility vehicles or maintenance carts.

Physical requirements

  • Ability to stand or walk for up to 10 hours per shift.
  • Ability to lift, push, or carry up to 80 lbs regularly.
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, crawling, and climbing stairs or ladders.
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, noisy, or outdoor environments as needed.
  • Ability to respond quickly and safely to emergencies.

Tools, systems, and technology

  • Quore work order system, PMS (Property Management System), and basic Microsoft Office use.
  • Hand tools, power tools, ladders, and lifts; HVAC equipment, electrical panels, and plumbing systems.
  • CB radios and Quore work order software.
