Events Set Up

Hotel Magdalena in Austin, TX is looking for an Events Set Up Houseperson to prepare event spaces and keep them running smoothly from setup through breakdown. You will help arrange meeting, banquet, wedding, and other special event areas, supporting the team while maintaining cleanliness, organization, and event readiness.

This onsite role supports successful event execution by ensuring spaces are properly staged, supplies are tracked, and guest-facing service needs are handled promptly. The position also requires consistent attention to safety and sanitation standards throughout each event shift.

What you will do

• Set up and break down event spaces, including arranging tables, chairs, linens, and other required equipment.
• Keep event areas clean and organized so they are ready for use.
• Assist with the placement and setup of audio-visual equipment as needed for specific events.
• Maintain an inventory of event supplies and report shortages or damages.
• Collaborate with event coordinators and other staff to meet the specific needs of each event.
• Provide excellent customer service to guests by addressing questions or concerns promptly.
• Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards during setup, events, and breakdown.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Event Service Manager or Event Coordinator.

What we are looking for

• 1+ year of experience in event setup or a similar role is preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• Availability for flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and an occasional overnight shift.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods.
• Ability to bend, stoop, and lift heavy objects up to 75 lbs.
• Comfort working in a range of environmental conditions, including indoor and outdoor settings.
• A thorough understanding of Bunkhouse policies.
• Ability to resolve conflict and communicate effectively.
