Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Set departmental goals, budgets, policies, procedures, and strategic plans.
  • Oversee cleanliness across guest rooms, public areas, and event spaces.
  • Apply labor metrics and cost-control principles to scheduling and proactive supervision.
  • Plan housekeeping staffing hours and assign tasks based on workload requirements.
  • Train and supervise housekeeping staff.
  • Enforce dress code policies for all scheduled shifts.
  • Address guest complaints related to housekeeping operations.
  • Inspect all guest rooms to ensure compliance with Bunkhouse standards.
  • Establish standards to ensure monthly linen inventories (PARS) are conducted consistently and accurately.
  • Monitor compliance with health and fire regulations for lodging facilities.
  • Evaluate new products for usefulness and sustainability.
  • Arrange equipment purchases and repairs.
  • Analyze operational problems such as theft and wastage and implement procedures to reduce them.
  • Carry out personnel actions including hiring and firing, consulting with other managers as needed.
  • May clean a room personally and ensure staff fully understands job requirements and training before accountability.
  • Hold staff accountable through regular performance evaluations.
  • Explain and assist the team in understanding Guest Satisfaction scores versus goals.
  • Maintain awareness of required documentation and its retention in employee files.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with staff, all departments, and upper management via email, logbooks, meetings, etc., to meet hotel needs.
  • Uphold high standards of cleanliness and safety in the work area.
  • Adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, training material, memos, and verbal instructions.
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained in good, safe working condition.
  • Maintain heightened awareness of safety issues across the property.
  • Stay current with safety and emergency procedures and OSHA requirements.
  • Attend relevant meetings.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of related experience in hospitality or the service industry.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to speak the primary language(s) of the workplace.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of co-workers and staff from sister properties.
  • Proficiency in creating documents in Excel and Word.
  • Ability to use other computer programs, such as a Property Management System (PMS).
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and algebra using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
