House Attendant

At DTLA Proper Hotel, the House Attendant role supports the housekeeping team by keeping both public areas and back-of-house spaces clean, organized, and ready for daily operations. This onsite position in Los Angeles, CA focuses on cleanliness, supply and inventory upkeep, safety and sanitation compliance, and team support to help maintain a consistently positive guest experience.

You will work across lobbies, hallways, elevators, restrooms, stairwells, service areas, and hotel storage areas, helping ensure spaces are presentable throughout the day. The role also includes transporting linens, supporting housekeeping workflows, and responding to operational needs from guests or other departments.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain public spaces, including hotel lobbies, hallways, elevators, restrooms, and stairwells.
• Sweep, mop, dust, and vacuum common areas to meet hotel cleanliness standards.
• Keep public restrooms clean and fully stocked with supplies such as toilet paper, soap, and hand sanitizer throughout the day.
• Clean furniture, windows, and other surfaces in public spaces to support a welcoming environment.
• Assist with cleaning and organizing back-of-house areas, including staff rooms, storage areas, and laundry rooms.
• Maintain service areas so they remain clean, safe, and efficient.
• Collect and transport dirty linens and towels to the laundry room, then deliver clean linens back to appropriate storage areas.
• Maintain cleanliness in supply closets and help organize cleaning materials and equipment.
• Support housekeeping team members as needed, including Room Attendants, Housekeeping Supervisors, and other staff.
• Respond promptly to requests from guests or other departments, such as delivering additional amenities or assisting with special requests.
• Assist with transporting guest luggage or items to and from rooms or designated areas when necessary.
• Ensure housekeeping carts and storage areas are stocked with cleaning supplies, linens, and amenities.
• Notify the housekeeping supervisor when supplies or equipment need replenishment.
• Assist with organizing and rotating stock in supply closets to maintain orderly inventory.
• Follow hotel health, safety, and sanitation procedures for a clean and safe environment for guests and staff.
• Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely in line with proper safety standards and guidelines.
• Identify and report safety hazards or maintenance issues to the appropriate department for resolution.
• Assist with cleaning guest rooms as needed, including restocking towels and amenities or supporting deep cleaning projects.
• Provide support during busy periods or special events by helping keep public and service areas clean and presentable.
• Complete special cleaning tasks or projects as assigned by the housekeeping supervisor or manager.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to maintain cleanliness and organization in public and service areas.
• Ability to work efficiently and independently, managing time effectively to complete tasks within designated timeframes.
• Good communication skills to interact with guests and team members.
• Ability to follow safety protocols and hotel procedures for cleaning and handling cleaning chemicals.
• Ability to assist with a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks as needed.
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds (for example, linens and cleaning equipment).
• Frequent use of hands, fingers, and wrists for handling cleaning tools and operating equipment.
• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment with exposure to cleaning chemicals and equipment.

Education and/or Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience in housekeeping, cleaning, or maintenance in a hotel or similar environment is beneficial but not required.
• Knowledge of cleaning techniques and use of cleaning equipment is a plus.
