Job Description

Onsite housekeeping role focused on turning over guest rooms and public spaces to established cleanliness standards.

Responsibilities

  • Retrieve supplies from shelves and storerooms, stock and set up cleaning carts, and keep carts and storerooms clean and organized to support efficient room cleaning
  • Clean and wipe windows, doors, walls, closets, and fixtures in guest rooms, public areas, and hallways, using ladders or stepping stools for hard-to-reach spots
  • Wash shower walls and tubs, clean toilets and stall walls (if applicable), wipe exposed pipes, and clean mirrors, sinks, and walls to maintain sanitary restrooms
  • Replace towels, soaps, and room amenities; restock literature that is missing, soiled, or torn for guest readiness
  • Wash hard floor surfaces (linoleum, tile, and similar) by hand to remove dirt and soiled areas
  • Dust and polish furniture, fixtures, and wall hangings; use a duster for vents and ceiling corners to remove dust and cobwebs
  • Strip beds of used linens, remake with fresh linens, and check bedspread, blankets, and bed pads for cleanliness; replace items if soiled; lift mattresses to check for soil between mattresses and under beds
  • Check closet cleanliness; wipe closet doors, handles, and overhead shelves; restock items such as hangers, extra blankets, and pillows
  • Vacuum rooms, public areas, and hallways, operating vacuums up to 25 lbs.; lift or move furniture to vacuum carpet fully, including under furniture and hard-to-reach areas
  • Inspect door and window locks and alert management immediately if anything is unsecured or unsafe for guest and employee safety
  • Inspect room equipment (TV, lights/lamps, faucets, radios) for proper working order; report room status and maintenance deficiencies in writing to the Executive Housekeeper for prompt repair
  • Maintain custody of equipment, keys, and supplies at all times to protect hotel property
  • Maintain a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor while working with guests and team members
  • Perform other duties as assigned, requested, or deemed necessary by management

Additional Duties

  • Support the laundry department by retrieving soiled linen from carts throughout the hotel, sorting by correct size loads, and using industrial washers, dryers, and pressers
  • Fold and distribute cleaned linen to storage closets and/or carts
  • Clean patio/balcony areas by sweeping or hosing floors, wiping down furniture and fixtures, picking up garbage, and cleaning patio/balcony doors and windows
  • Assist other employees and departments to support overall departmental and hotel performance

Requirements

  • High School diploma / Secondary qualification or equivalent
  • Experience with Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham, or cleaning standards
  • Basic knowledge of general cleaning principles, use of cleaning products, and operation of standard cleaning equipment
  • Vision ability to see minute debris and dirt in poorly lit areas; ability to read written instructions and computer print-outs
  • Upper body strength to lift up to 50 lbs. continually throughout an 8-hour shift
  • Finger, hand, and upper body dexterity to push, pull, and move levers, equipment, and furniture during an 8-hour shift
  • Ability to work with arms raised above head throughout an 8-hour shift
  • Ability to maneuver a fully loaded maid cart (up to 50 lbs.) through hallways and into/out of closets throughout the work day
  • Continual exposure to hazardous chemicals
  • Ability to perform prolonged strenuous physical activity in an indoor climate-controlled environment; excessive heat and humidity in laundry
  • Material/Equipment used: basic residential cleaning equipment (vacuums, floor buffers, carpet cleaning equipment), cleaning cart, ladder/stepping stool, commercial washers, dryers, and pressers
  • Work schedule requirement: must be able to work Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm and Sunday 9:00am-5:30pm
  • Current resume with an exceptional work history required

  • Reading and writing skills used often for paperwork and logging issues/complaints/requests/information updates
  • Problem-solving, reasoning, motivating, and training abilities used often
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and/or holidays

Compensation

  • USD 17 - 25 per hourly
  • $17.25 per hour
