Housekeeping Room Attendant

Join Sheraton Hotel in Edison, NJ to clean and refresh guest rooms while following established procedures, safety standards, and key controls.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize guest room surfaces including bathtub, toilet, sink, walls, mirrors, tiles, counters, and floors using cloths, mops, sponges, brushes, and/or cleaning agents
• Follow cleaning procedures and instructions for proper use of cleaning agents
• Strip and make beds, including changing bed linens and lifting bedspreads up to 50 lbs
• Dust furniture and room surfaces, including pictures, drawers, window ledges, and shelves
• Vacuum the entire room and empty trash
• Replenish amenities, linens, and supplies in guest rooms
• Handle room key procedures: sign for keys, move to assigned rooms, and restock the heavy cart
• Visually inspect each room for cleanliness and appearance, then signify room completion
• Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned
• Clean and stock guest rooms to support high standards of cleanliness

Requirements

• Ability to communicate well with guests
• Team-focused attitude and willingness to pitch-in with coworkers
• Knowledge of chemical cleaning agents and operation of various cleaning equipment
• Ability to push and/or pull equipment up to 100 lbs
• Ability to scrub and scour surfaces, including extending arms over head, and work in confined spaces
• Deliver customer-focused service: positive guest interaction and professionalism in all circumstances
• Treat guests and associates with courtesy and respect
• Meet and strive to exceed hotel standards for work procedures, dress, grooming, punctuality, and attendance
• Adapt to changes in work area and hotel procedures; learn new skills; solve routine problems and ask for help when needed
• Adhere to hotel security policies, especially key controls, lifting heavy objects, chemical use, and reporting safety hazards/concerns

Education

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience

• Housekeeping management: 1 year (Preferred)
