Room Attendant
Job Description
Hotel Cerro is seeking a Room Attendant to help maintain a consistently clean, well-presented environment for hotel guests in San Luis Obispo, CA. The role focuses on preparing guest rooms to the highest standards, including fresh linens, towels, and stocked amenities, while following cleanliness and safety expectations throughout each shift.
Responsibilities
- Clean all guest rooms as assigned within the required time limit.
- Update daily assignment sheets throughout the day; turn in the assignment sheet and keys to the Housekeeping Supervisor at the end of the shift.
- Change bed linens and make beds.
- Replenish room supplies, including amenities, drinking glasses, and clean linen.
- Lift and move furniture in the room as needed for cleaning.
- Clean rugs, carpets, and upholstered furniture using a vacuum cleaner and/or proper chemicals.
- Dust and clean furniture and surfaces, including picture frames, bed frames, lamps, TVs, armoires, desks, and more.
- Thoroughly clean bathrooms by washing the shower/tub, sink, floor, toilet, and related areas.
- Polish woodwork and metal work such as fixtures and metal fittings.
- Clean windows, door panels, and sills.
- Empty wastebaskets.
- Replenish bathroom supplies and terry items.
- Sort, count, fold, and distribute linen to the linen closets.
- Organize and stock the cleaning cart; organize linen closets on assigned floors.
- Transport trash and waste to the designated disposal area.
- Complete deep cleaning projects in guest rooms according to the hotel Deep Cleaning program.
- Clean additional work areas as needed, including hallways, restrooms, elevators, stairwells, locker rooms, and more.
- Perform general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products in adherence to health standards.
- Turn in all Lost & Found items following standard procedures.
- Practice hotel emergency procedures and remain knowledgeable of loss prevention guidelines.
- Report maintenance issues and necessary room repairs; ensure unacceptable rooms are not released back to inventory until addressed.
- Ensure the work area is clean when finished.
- Complete other assigned duties from managers or supervisors, including assisting with guest inquiries.
- Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures.
- Report maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries.
- Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by direct and indirect supervisors.
Requirements
- High school or equivalent education required.
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language used in the workplace.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent customer relations skills.
- Detail oriented, with strong organizational and communication skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Basic computational ability.
- Ability to work effectively with internal and external customers, using patience, tact, diplomacy, and accurate information to resolve conflicts.
- Self-driven with the ability to work independently.
- Exceptionally strong issue resolution and analytical skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work inside in moderate, controlled temperatures (approximately 75% or more of the time inside).
- Ability to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to four (4) hours.
- Ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously and work in limited spaces while reaching other hotel departments on a timely basis.
- Ability to lift up to 45 lbs. as needed.
- Ability to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, and hearing, along with visual acuity.
- Ability to hear, smell, taste, and visually observe to distinguish product quality and detect signs of emergency situations.
- Talking and hearing occur continuously during communication with staff, guests, and supervisors.
- Vision occurs continuously, including near and color vision and depth perception.
- Ability to bend, stoop, squat, and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks occasionally.
- Finger dexterity to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, 10-key adding machine, multi-line touch tone phone, filing cabinets, FAX machines, photocopiers, dolly, and other equipment as needed.

- Maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance per Azul Hospitality standards, following property-required grooming and uniform policies.
- Maintain regular attendance in conformance with Azul Hospitality standards; irregular attendance or tardiness may lead to disciplinary action up to and including termination.
- Comply with Azul Hospitality rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the hotel facilities.
- Violations of hotel rules and regulations may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.
- Schedules may vary based on business needs due to the cyclical nature of hospitality.
- Attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.

Compensation: USD 17 - 18 per hour. Location: San Luis Obispo, CA (onsite).
