Job Description
The Banquet Setup/Breakdown role at Spartanburg Hotel supports banquet personnel by handling operational items and materials to help deliver exceptional guest service aligned with Marriott standards under the franchise of Mainsail Lodging & Development.
Job Location
Spartanburg, SC (onsite)
Key Responsibilities
- Acknowledge guests in all public spaces with a warm and friendly greeting
- Assist with banquet operations, including setting up tables and chairs
- Follow scheduled shifts and comply with break and lunch requirements
- Report light outages, broken equipment, or room discrepancies to a manager, with close attention to hallway areas
- Assist guests with special requests
- Communicate with the manager regarding inventory needs, including chairs, tables, and banquet linens
- Maintain professional communication while using technology
- Respect guests, team members, and management by maintaining a positive, friendly attitude
- Interact with guests and share hotel knowledge using personalization, such as using the guest name
- Maintain guest confidentiality in accordance with all hotel procedures
- Report suspicious activity or unusual items in rooms
- Report irregular guest behavior in public areas and/or in rooms
- Take initiative and handle assigned tasks with limited supervision
- Follow all hotel policies and procedures as outlined in the team member handbook
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in work areas, including closets, carts, and the housekeeping office
- Perform other duties as management requests to support guest service
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or higher
- Previous hospitality experience preferred
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to use technology (e.g., tablets, iPads)
- Corrected vision to normal range
- Ability to communicate clearly
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to squat and bend
- Ability to work long hours as needed
- Ability to lift/push/pull 50 lbs
- Make sound judgments quickly
- Work on multiple tasks while making appropriate progress toward deadlines
- Able to work independently, take direction, and provide direction to others
- Ability to manage differing personalities within the office, the hotel, and the community
- Maintain the highest degree of confidentiality
- Ability to work effectively in stressful, high-pressure situations
- Ability to handle workplace challenges by anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary
Education & Experience
- High School diploma or higher
