Job Description

The Executive Housekeeper/Mgmt role with Hotel Equities, onsite at the Sheraton Northbrook Hotel in Northbrook, Illinois, oversees the housekeeping team to maintain clean, well-appointed guest rooms and to coordinate with other hotel departments in support of service and brand standards.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise room attendants to ensure prompt, efficient cleaning of guest rooms.
  • Verify daily progress by reviewing attendants' worksheets and updating the front desk.
  • Manage short notice room-change requests and ensure timely completion.
  • Inspect check-out and stay-over rooms after cleaning to ensure adherence to standards.
  • Maintain daily records of checkouts and stay-overs; submit to housekeeping each day.
  • Conduct inspections to monitor room quality and document findings.
  • Prepare maintenance work orders for furniture and fixture repairs or replacements.
  • Follow up to ensure maintenance orders are completed.
  • Monitor room status and communicate changes to room cleaners.
  • Inspect VIP rooms and early morning make-up rooms as required.
  • Prioritize cleaning based on guest requests, including VIP and checkout rooms.
  • Check floor linen closets daily for cleanliness, supplies, and linen levels.
  • Ensure carts are stored properly and vacuums are emptied at day end.
  • Assist in quarterly linen inventory and keep linen chutes securely locked.
  • Coordinate housekeeping activities with front desk, engineering, banquet, and room services.
  • Provide courteous, efficient service while upholding company standards.
  • Assist in training and guiding new department associates.
  • Ensure compliance with housekeeping quality standards, policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other departments to improve communication and guest satisfaction.
  • Assist in maintaining an optimal room inventory to support revenue and guest expectations.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience with Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham or Hyatt brand processes and standards.
  • Most tasks are performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment.
  • Walking and standing for the majority of the workday; duration varies by task.
  • Must be able to walk and direct staff for extended periods.
  • Ability to reach other hotel departments in a timely manner.
  • Lift up to 15 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 pounds on occasion.
  • Ability to work in limited spaces; bend, stoop, squat and stretch as needed.
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, and adequate vision.
  • Continuous talking and listening to communicate with guests, supervisors and staff.
  • Vision and depth perception; manual dexterity to operate required equipment.
