Job Description
The Front Desk Associate role at Hilton Garden Inn Hotel in Preston, CT supports smooth check-in and front desk operations while maintaining service standards, cash handling procedures, and hotel policy compliance. This is an on-site position responsible for guest registration, reservations support, and attentive guest service.
Responsibilities
- Maintain flexibility with the work schedule and report to work on time in a proper and clean uniform, including a name tag.
- Perform all front desk duties in alignment with hotel policies, procedures, internal rules, and service standards.
- Conform to cash handling procedures at all times, including securing the bank when leaving the front desk area.
- Stay informed on daily hotel operations, including changes, new procedures, and events.
- Maintain knowledge of room rates, packages, discounts, and promotions, and handle each appropriately.
- Have working knowledge of guest rooms, room locations, amenities, features, and other hotel services offered.
- Be aware of current guest service scores and understand guest comments and needs; actively contribute to achieving the hotel’s GSS goals.
- Operate the hotel reservations software competently and efficiently.
- Complete guest registration and room assignments, including accommodating special requests.
- Understand brand-specific reward programs and other frequent traveler programs.
- Answer phones according to proper etiquette and in a timely manner, with no more than three rings.
- Know and follow safe deposit box policies and procedures.
- Ensure the front desk and back office area remain clean at all times, including keeping computer equipment clean.
- Use spare time for assigned cleaning tasks such as lobby, entrances, public restrooms, and other areas on the cleaning checklist.
- Assist guests with problems and questions as required, resolving issues using brand-specific problem resolution guidelines.
- Assist fellow associates when possible to support daily hotel operations.
- Know emergency procedures and follow them when required.
- Provide guests with information about the city, local area, and attractions upon request.
- Use the AM, PM, and night audit daily checklists to support smooth daily operations.
- Report any unusual occurrences or requests to the manager.
- Greet guests immediately and offer assistance before guests need to ask, providing focused attention to the guest.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
