Guest Room Attendant

At Ameristar Casino Hotel East Chicago, the Guest Room Attendant plays an essential role in keeping guest accommodations and surrounding areas consistently clean, well maintained, and ready for every arrival. This onsite position in East Chicago, IN focuses on room and area cleaning, equipment upkeep, and accurate shift documentation, all while following security guidelines and providing courteous guest interactions.

You will work in hotel towers as directed, handling cleaning tasks in a quiet, orderly manner, assisting with guest needs within established guidelines, and supporting the housekeeping team when department projects require additional help.

Responsibilities

• Cleans hotel rooms, hallways, linen rooms, and employee and storage areas in the hotel towers, as directed.
• Maintains and cleans all equipment used throughout a shift, as directed.
• Maintains proper documentation of duties accomplished during the working shift, as directed.
• Reports safety hazards or maintenance deficiencies for proper handling.
• Abides by all security measures.
• Greets guests throughout the shift using the proper salutation and a pleasant expression.
• Assists guests with issues within authority to provide, ensuring satisfaction while staying within established guidelines and policies.
• Performs duties in a quiet and orderly manner.
• Assists the house person with department projects, as needed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred (not required).
• Six (6) months of previous cleaning experience preferred.
• Willingness to learn and follow direction.
• Ability to clean as directed at an acceptable performance rate.
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
• Must be able to operate equipment, including but not limited to vacuum cleaners, cleaning supplies, mop, and broom.
• Ability to minimally communicate and understand in English matters of mutual concern, such as directions, hazards, or questions; if unable to speak or understand English, prior experience as a guest room attendant is required.
