Job Description
Potawatomi Casino Hotel is seeking a Hotel Housekeeping Assistant Manager to support day-to-day housekeeping operations in Milwaukee, WI. In this onsite role, you will assist the Hotel Housekeeping Operations Manager by overseeing cleaning of guest rooms and hotel facilities, helping maintain safety expectations, and supporting guest service standards.
What you’ll do
- Oversee the day-to-day responsibilities of housekeeping team members to ensure guest rooms and all facility areas are cleaned to standard and amenities are stocked.
- Coordinate work assignments and maintain communication with hotel departments, including receiving and providing feedback.
- Inspect and evaluate the physical condition of all areas and assigned work to confirm departmental standards are met.
- Identify cleaning needs and potential safety hazards, then notify the appropriate individual to resolve issues and repair needs.
- Submit recommendations for painting, repairs, furnishings, and relocation of equipment.
- Handle management responsibilities aligned with organizational policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, motivating, performance appraisals, rewards and discipline (up to and including termination), addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
- Ensure work is completed with minimal disruption to business operations.
- Respond promptly to guest inquiries, special requests, or complaints and take corrective action to support a positive guest interaction.
- Evaluate housekeeping operations and help develop and implement strategies and processes to track and improve daily assignments and project work while supporting maximum safety.
- Prepare paperwork and department reports and complete clerical functions.
- Track supply inventory, including linens, cleaners, and amenities, required for daily assignments and project work.
- Perform or assist with cleaning duties as needed.
- Maintain full compliance with departmental Internal Controls, policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Key requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- At least one year of progressively responsible hotel housekeeping or related experience is required; two years preferred.
- Supervisory experience: one year preferred.
- Ability to work safely and effectively with various chemicals/cleaning agents, tools, and equipment; trained in blood borne pathogens and able to perform required procedures.
- Strong understanding of OSHA regulations as they relate to environmental housekeeping requirements.
- Office skills including use of standard office equipment and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Prior knowledge in purchasing software and scheduling software is preferred.
- Strong organization skills and attention to detail to manage multiple duties and projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to maintain discretion with confidential information.
- Ability to interact with and understand stakeholders at all levels, including how their interests impact PH&C and its goals.
- Ability to communicate effectively before groups of guests or team members.
- Ability to work irregular hours and extended shifts, including late nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to operate a personal computer.
- Physical ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally with assistance.
- Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing job duties.
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Working conditions
- Noise level is usually moderate, and increases when on the casino floor.
- The facility is not smoke free.
- Use of chemical cleaning products and potential exposure to blood borne pathogens.
Technologies: Microsoft Office.
