Hotel Operations Manager
Job Description
Rayland Hotel in The Dalles, Oregon, is seeking a hands-on Hotel Operations Manager to lead daily operations within its boutique setting. Working closely with the General Manager, you will drive revenue, nurture neighborhood partnerships, and uphold brand standards across rooms, front office, housekeeping, and food and beverage to deliver a memorable guest experience. This onsite role offers a salary range of USD 45,000 to 65,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the front desk, housekeeping, and other assigned departments to maintain smooth, efficient service.
- Uphold high standards of cleanliness, safety, and ambiance throughout guest rooms and public spaces.
- Serve as the on-site host, engaging guests, addressing issues promptly, and delivering personalized, elevated service.
- Fulfill Manager on Duty shifts as scheduled, making timely decisions to protect guest satisfaction and hotel performance.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with local businesses, community organizations, and neighborhood partners to boost room nights and restaurant traffic.
- Represent the hotel at local events and networking functions to raise visibility and reinforce brand presence.
- Work with sales and marketing to implement local offers, packages, and partnerships that appeal to the surrounding community.
- Track community feedback and online reviews and coordinate service improvements and reputation management with the team.
- Lead by example on the floor as a visible, driven leader, modeling hospitality-minded behavior and guest-first decision making.
- Recruit, train, coach, and schedule staff to ensure adequate coverage and consistent service standards.
- Foster an inclusive, positive work environment aligned with boutique brand values and local culture.
- Hold staff accountable for performance and conduct, providing ongoing feedback, recognition, and support.
- Assist leadership with wage oversight and expense management to maintain budgeted labor and controllable costs.
- Support the implementation of operational SOPs, brand standards, and compliance requirements covering safety, health, and HR policies.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and enhance service while boosting guest satisfaction and profitability.
- Engage in reporting and analysis of occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, and guest satisfaction scores, and act on emerging trends.
Requirements
- Two to four years of hotel or hospitality operations experience, ideally within a boutique or lifestyle property.
- Proven record as a driven leader in a guest-facing, service-driven environment.
- Strong community and local sales orientation; comfortable networking, building partnerships, and representing the hotel publicly.
- Restaurant or food and beverage background strongly preferred; ability to collaborate with F&B leadership on service standards and guest experience.
- Excellent communication, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills.
- Flexible schedule requirements, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as business demands.
- Proficiency with common hotel systems such as PMS and POS, plus basic reporting tools.
