Job Description

Manage late-night front office operations and complete financial closeout to keep every guest stay running smoothly.

Responsibilities

  • Keep current knowledge of hotel features and services, hours of operation, all room types and numbers, layout, décor, appointments, and locations
  • Know room rates, special packages, and promotions
  • Maintain daily house count and expected arrivals and departures
  • Monitor room availability status for each day
  • Stay informed on scheduled daily group activities
  • Follow all hotel and departmental policies and procedures, including front and back of house operations
  • Post any guest charges that were not previously posted or that were incurred during the night audit shift
  • Transfer charges and deposits to master accounts
  • Verify that charges are assigned to the correct departments
  • Confirm front desk transactions have required documentary evidence and signatures as needed, and ensure items are correctly posted and allocated in the system
  • Track room revenues, occupancy percentages, and other front office statistics (check figures, postings, and documentation accuracy)
  • Record, store, access, and/or analyze computerized financial information
  • Complete end-of-day procedures and follow the End of Day/Night Audit Checklist
  • Assist PBX with switchboard duties

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret guest instructions and direction
  • Clear communication with guests and staff across guest service needs
  • Ability to input and access data using a computer
  • Ability to understand guest inquiries and provide responses
  • Maintain positive relations with guests at the front desk and by telephone
  • Stay calm, courteous, and focused on guest needs
  • Think clearly and quickly, making concise decisions
  • Prioritize, organize, and follow up effectively
  • Handle high-volume periods, including 50+ arrivals/departures within any given timeframe
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all guest and hotel information
  • Remain stationary at the assigned post for extended periods
  • Work cohesively with other departments and team members
  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Experience: One to three years previous experience in a hotel or high-end retail environment is required
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the necessary license as mandated by the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency
  • Physical demands: Lifting up to 20 lbs; pushing/pulling up to 20 lbs; carrying up to 20 lbs; some bending/kneeling; frequent walking; frequent standing; some sitting; climbing steps
  • Work environment: Exposure to alcohol, cigarette and cigar smoke, bright lights, and loud noises; environment where smoking is allowed

Location: Hanover, MD (onsite)

Pay: USD 20 per hour

Experience required: 1 year
