Responsibilities
- Experience serving guests in an upscale market
- Solid knowledge of food and beverage, with wine and champagne knowledge considered a plus
- Ability to perform physical duties including manual handling
- Ability to stay composed under high-volume service periods
- Demonstrates strong upselling skills
- Consistently adheres to allergy procedures at all times
Requirements
- Previous experience as a room service attendant or server in a hotel or fine dining restaurant
- Proficiency with Micros POS System
- Strong organizational skills
- Willingness to work AM and PM shifts, including weekdays, weekends and holidays
- Ability to work in the minibar when required
- Thorough understanding of New York City Health Department standards and regulations
- Strong personal accountability for punctuality
- Ability to stand for an 8-hour shift up to five days a week
- Proficiency in reading, entering, reviewing and retrieving information in a POS system, preferably Micros
- Experience using a computer keyboard, mouse and telephone system
- Strong written and verbal communication and documentation abilities
- Good visual acuity to read menus and Micros screens, take orders, review bills and navigate the dining room, kitchen and service areas
- Physical ability to balance, bend, stoop and reach to place and retrieve plates, glassware and other serving items
- Ability to multitask with attention to detail to ensure timely service and bussing
- Knowledge of basic table maintenance such as polishing, marking, spot-checking and crumbing tables
- Flexible schedule including days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
