Part Time Night Auditor
Job Description
Night audit responsibilities focused on accurate cash handling, daily reconciliations, and guest service support during overnight hours.
Responsibilities
- Audit, balance, and report cash and credit activity for all food and beverage outlets (restaurant, lounges, banquets, room service), including checks, over/short figures, tally sheets, deposits, counts, house charges, promotional materials, and postings.
- Reset registers to support accurate, timely information.
- Follow established procedures to reconcile cashier reports with the restaurant system each night; research and post unresolved tickets from day shifts.
- Maintain and post daily balances for all house accounts, including preliminary reconciliations, detail transactions, and final reports to accounting.
- Audit, balance, post, and report front desk activity, including room charges, phone calls, zero balance folios, corrections, adjustments, taxes, disputed charges, and deposits.
- Verify cash handling accuracy and compliance with proper procedures.
- Audit, balance, and prepare room information to provide room management with performance visibility.
- Prepare and enter statistics and income journal sheets to support daily report preparation; ensure reports are accurate and completed on time, including correct cash transaction handling.
- Balance and audit accuracy for room revenue, food and beverage revenue, cashier reports, guest and house accounts, and telephone revenue; assist with daily revenue reporting.
- Balance and close bank ticket codes daily.
- Transmit credit card batches.
- Run the night audit final after confirming nightly revenue balances.
- Complete and transmit daily management and accounting reports and supporting documents.
- Serve as a hotel system liaison during night hours.
- Perform Guest Service Representative functions as needed, including assistance with booking room reservations.
- May assist with answering hotel phone calls and notifying guests of messages.
- Perform other duties as designated.
Requirements
- High school education or equivalent experience.
- Six to twelve months of employment in a related position or office setting with this company or another organization.
- Accounting or hospitality experience is a bonus.
- Excellent computer and cash handling skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Guest service-oriented demeanor (sociable, outgoing, lively) and ability to adapt to changing guest needs.
- Working knowledge generally learned on-the-job.
- Good judgment and ability to resolve conflicts effectively.
- Ability to communicate information and hotel services to management, staff, and guests.
