Public Area Attendant
Job Description
In Seattle, the Public Area Attendant helps keep hotel public spaces welcoming, clean, and aligned with Highgate Hotel Standards. Working onsite at Kimpton Palladian Hotel, this role supports the day-to-day upkeep of lobby and other shared areas, with additional cleaning and coverage as assigned.
What you’ll do
- Maintain a guest- and team-oriented presence with attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous service for guests, managers, and fellow employees.
- Use proper two-way radio etiquette when communicating with other employees.
- Follow safe work habits to protect guests, coworkers, and yourself.
- Handle Lost and Found items according to hotel standards.
- Complete end-of-shift closeout by turning in all keys and assignment sheets to the Housekeeping Office.
- Report maintenance issues to the Housekeeping Supervisor/Manager.
- Support housekeeping operations by assisting with correct guestroom cleaning procedures when needed.
- Deliver clean linen to assigned sections, if necessary.
- Pick up Room Attendant dirty linen and/or trash as needed.
- Collect trash from service landings before leaving and take/dispose of it in the outside trash dumpsters per hotel procedures.
- Vacuum guest corridors and keep hallways, public areas, and closets neat and organized.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in public restrooms.
- Adhere to the schedule for project cleaning of public areas.
- Maintain stairwells to hotel standards and keep ash urns clean and filled with sand.
- Support overall guest satisfaction through consistent upkeep of shared spaces.
What you bring
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in a hotel or related field preferred; previous housekeeping experience is highly preferred.
- Ability to work flexible and long hours sometimes required.
- Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or 20 pounds frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.
- Ability to stand during the entire shift.
- Effective communication (verbal and written) with all levels of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous, service-oriented manner.
- Ability to listen to, understand, and clarify concerns raised by employees and guests.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
- Attend all required hotel meetings and trainings and maintain regular attendance in line with hotel standards and scheduling needs.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including proper uniform, PPE, and nametag.
- Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
- Demonstrate initiative, handle problems by anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving as necessary.
- Ability to understand and apply complex information from various sources to meet objectives.
- Ability to cross-train in other hotel-related areas and maintain confidentiality of information.
- Perform other duties as requested by management, while maintaining a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.
Pay and location
- Location: Seattle, WA (onsite)
- Pay: USD 24 per hourly
