Responsibilities
- Proactively identify new business opportunities by prospecting groups, travel managers, travel agents, and hotel guests; leverage networks to open doors and find profitable avenues within the marketplace; research market trends and client needs to develop corporate, association, government, consortia, and wholesale accounts.
- Represent the hotel in industry circles by participating in organizations, trade shows, community events, and sales blitzes; deliver onsite and field presentations to prospective clients; engage in pre-event meetings and training as required.
- Develop and sustain long-term relationships through consistent communication and high-quality customer service.
- Assess opportunities, monitor market trends and competition, and respond to RFPs via Lanyon and direct proposals; maintain client correspondence and data in the Business Travel Workbook.
- Keep detailed records of clients and prospects in the property's systems and contribute to ongoing data quality and reporting.
- Attend Business Review Meetings, research new companies, and design direct marketing campaigns; participate in training and deliver presentations as needed.
- Conduct familiarization trips and engage with the local community to cultivate new business.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree in Hospitality or Business Management is preferred.
- Two or more years of related sales experience in a hotel or corporate environment (examples include Catering/Event Sales, Event Coordination, Travel Manager/Agent, or Executive Meeting Manager).
- Solid knowledge of hotel service standards, guest relations, and etiquette; ability to sell and operate in a high-volume, time-sensitive environment.
- Able to learn and follow effective sales processes designed to maximize revenue while adhering to operating criteria; completion of required training is expected.
- Strong sales techniques with negotiation and closing abilities; capable of identifying customer needs and presenting options persuasively across in-person, video, email, and phone channels; capable of creating and delivering sales presentations and materials; discretion with confidential information; positive attitude and professional demeanor.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to apply logical reasoning to evaluate solutions and stay calm under pressure.
- Working knowledge of MS Office; familiarity with hotel systems such as Opera, Fosse, Infor, Concur, DELPHI, Agency360, STR Reporting, Teams, Zoom, SynXis, Lighthouse, Sertifi, Lanyon, Knowland, CoStar, ZoomInfo, and LinkedIn is preferred.
- Flexibility to work varying schedules, including holidays, weekends, and alternate shifts; this position is based at the property and may require some travel to industry events and sales missions.
- Maintains a clean appearance and professional demeanor.
- Driver's license required.
