Server / Counter Server

Join the team at The Park Hotel on the Plaza and help support daily service across the restaurant, bar, and coffee counter. This Server / Counter Server role is based onsite in Kansas City, MO, with $15 per hour and a flexible schedule. You will be part of an opening-focused team environment, delivering a smooth guest experience from counter service to table delivery.

What you will do

• Welcome and guide guests by greeting warmly, seating when needed, and sharing menu specials and promotions
• Take and enter orders accurately, input details in the POS, and deliver food and drinks
• Support counter service by preparing and serving coffee, specialty drinks, and grab-and-go items
• Check in with guests, refill drinks, and recommend desserts and specialty coffees
• Handle checks by presenting and closing out according to hotel procedures
• Maintain service readiness through setup, stocking, cleaning, and assigned sidework before, during, and after each shift
• Keep the dining area moving by clearing and resetting tables and assisting the team wherever needed
• Follow alcohol service rules and adhere to all state and local liquor laws when serving alcohol
• Manage incoming requests by taking phone and room service orders and handling special guest requests

Qualifications

• Serving experience preferred: 6 months to 1 year serving experience; hospitality experience is a plus
• Guest-first communication with a friendly, positive, professional approach, including with upset guests
• Menu confidence: able to learn and recommend menu items
• POS comfort: comfortable with POS systems or willing to learn
• Physical ability: able to carry trays up to 40 lbs through a busy dining room
• Certifications preferred: food handler/sanitation certification; tips or equivalent responsible alcohol service certification
• Education: high school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Age requirement: must be 18 or older to serve alcohol
