Assistant General Manager
Job Description
Merete Hotel Management is hiring an Assistant General Manager for an onsite role in Bend, OR. This position supports smooth day to day hotel operations while helping lead a team focused on guest experience, safety, and service standards. What You’ll Do
Assist the hotel GM in planning, directing, and coordinating hotel operations, including implementing policies and managing day to day activities across key departments. You will help ensure teams follow established hotel policies and procedures while maintaining clean, organized spaces and consistent service throughout the property.
- Assist the hotel GM with daily operations and short and long term operating plans.
- Manage the Front Desk operations to support efficient guest service.
- Manage housekeeping work activities to ensure clean, orderly, and attractive rooms.
- Oversee the Breakfast Area and personnel operations.
- Support guest experience by investigating and resolving quality and service complaints.
- Lead team operations by selecting, training, supervising, developing, scheduling, and counseling team members according to hotel policies and procedures, including performance evaluations.
- Monitor payroll hours and reports, assign duties, and inspect work.
- Maintain compliance by applying the company handbook and employment and labor laws in a fair and equitable manner.
- Coordinate with the hotel GM and Maintenance on repair and maintenance for guestrooms and public areas.
- Maintain lost and found records, including the lost & found log.
- Complete required reports and paperwork, including forecasts, annual budgets, and action plans.
- Attend, schedule, and conduct departmental meetings.
- Report any unsafe conditions immediately and follow all safety procedures.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Perform additional duties assigned by the hotel GM, with a focus on respectful, positive, teamwork oriented conduct.
Requirements
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in hospitality management or business, or 3 years of experience in the hospitality industry including at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
- Basic accounting knowledge such as P&L statements and labor and cost control.
- Prior cash handling experience.
- Prior customer service experience.
- Ability to work with computers and operating keyboards.
- Must pass a criminal background check.
- Valid driver license with a DMV record acceptable to be an insured driver on the employer’s insurance policy.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, vibrations, humidity, cold, heat, dust, and noise.
- Must adhere to company safety standards and procedures; use hearing and eye and hand protection as needed.
- Lift and carry average 20 lbs frequently, with maximum 50 lbs frequently; pushing and pulling up to 50 lbs frequently, with maximum weight frequently up to 150 lbs.
- Standing and walking up to two miles per day on cement, tile, asphalt, and carpet.
- Reaching and overhead extension, plus repetitive motions including bending, kneeling, stooping, and twisting.
