Job Description
The Catering Sales Manager position at the DoubleTree by Hilton Wichita Airport focuses on driving revenue growth through new account development, direct sales, and effective key account management.
Responsibilities
- Meet or exceed productivity goals of at least 90% and activity goals at 100% as set by management.
- Direct Sales: pursue high revenue potential sales calls aligned with department budget and marketing plans; own reliable transportation and a valid state driver’s license to conduct sales calls.
- Key Account Management: maximize revenue from current hotel key accounts by identifying opportunities for growth.
- New Account Development: win new business by targeting competitor accounts through networking, market research, and reader board surveys.
- Acquire referrals from existing accounts by following up on leads within 48 hours and, when appropriate, routing leads to Greenwood hotels.
- Plan and execute an ongoing Targeted Account Development hit list to create new revenue and secure valuable hotel contacts and contracts.
- Consistently target and prospect for new business through telemarketing, creativity, and proactive outreach.
- Yield Management: apply yield techniques to negotiate room rates and function space commitments that enhance profitability.
- Account Service and Management: maintain well-documented, accurate, organized client files for efficient service.
- Build strong customer relationships through regular communication and professional, ethical interactions.
- Create and maintain customer profiles with a trace system (dates and references) to meet client needs and boost revenues.
- Promptly address all customer needs and inquiries in a timely manner.
- Product Knowledge: research market conditions and territory to capitalize on strengths and address competitor weaknesses.
- Time Management: devote at least 90% of work time to revenue-producing direct sales activities.
- Professionalism: manage travel expenses to minimize costs while representing the hotel and company.
- Uphold integrity and professionalism in all interactions, delivering a service-focused and courteous experience.
- Foster a positive, collaborative attitude across hotel departments and maintain open communication with colleagues.
- Maintain a neat, clean, business-like appearance at all times.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham or Hyatt processes and standards.
- Dexterity and mobility to meet clients on and off premises, tour the property, attend functions, climb stairs, use keys, and operate basic office equipment.
- Vision capable of reading fine print and computer screens; ability to discern colors and assess rooms in low light.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.
- Strong internal and external relationship-building skills.
- Ability to set priorities and plan activities in advance.
- Problem-solving aptitude and sound business judgment.
- Receptiveness to coaching, feedback, and training.
