House Attendant
Job Description
GLENMARK HOTEL in Glendale, CA is hiring a House Attendant for an onsite role focused on keeping public spaces clean, orderly, and maintained to hotel standards. This position supports day-to-day upkeep across multiple areas and contributes to guest-ready room support through linen and supply coordination.
Role purpose
The goal of this role is to ensure all public areas remain clean and maintained according to the hotel’s standards.
Key responsibilities
- Complete general cleaning in public areas, storage areas, and administrative areas.
- Clean guest and traffic areas including rooms, hallways, lobby, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and the fitness center.
- Supply and use a cleaning cart stocked with appropriate supplies for the shift.
- Ensure assigned work areas are clean and properly maintained upon completion.
- Maintain familiarity with the hotel and assist with guest inquiries and requests.
- Run supplies and service items to guestrooms as requested.
- Dust furniture and fixtures; polish metalwork and furniture; vacuum floors.
- Participate in the guest room Deep Cleaning program.
- Complete deep cleaning tasks and special projects such as mattress flipping and furniture moves.
- Assist with carpet cleaning and extraction.
- Strip rooms for Room Attendants upon check out.
- Collect soiled linens from rooms for laundering and receive and store linen supplies in appropriate locations.
- Assist Room Attendants by bringing additional items needed for guest rooms.
- Remove and dispose of trash.
- Clean outside areas including the porte cochere and other arrival areas.
- Support cleanliness of staff break areas and administrative offices.
- Perform other duties assigned by managers and supervisors, including assisting with guest inquiries.
- Follow all company policies as well as safety and security procedures.
- Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries.
- Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by direct and indirect supervisors.
Requirements
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language used in the workplace.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent customer relations skills.
- Detail oriented with strong organizational and communication skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Basic computational ability.
- Ability to work with internal and external customers, using patience, tact, and diplomacy; ability to collect accurate information to resolve conflicts.
- Self-driven and able to work independently.
- Strong issue resolution and proven analytical skills with attention to detail.
Physical demands
- Works primarily inside (approximately 75% or more of time indoors), in a moderate temperature environment controlled by hotel systems.
- Must be able to sit at a desk for up to six (6) hours per day.
- Walking and standing required at times; ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously.
- Ability to work in limited space and reach other departments on a timely basis.
- Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs. as needed.
- Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs.
- Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening/hearing, and visual acuity.
- Must be able to hear, smell, taste, and visually observe and distinguish product quality and detect signs of emergency situations.
- Talking and hearing occur continuously during communication with staff, guests, and supervisors; vision occurs continuously including near and color vision and depth perception.
- Ability to work primarily with fingers for picking, pinching, typing, and related wrist and hand movements.
Education and experience
- Education: High school or equivalent education required.
- Experience: Prior hotel experience preferred.
Grooming
- All staff must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance per Azul Hospitality standards, following property-specific grooming and uniform requirements.
Attendance and scheduling
- Regular attendance in conformance with Azul Hospitality standards is essential.
- Irregular attendance or tardiness may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.
- Upon employment, all staff must comply with Azul Hospitality rules and regulations for safe and effective hotel operations.
- Violations of hotel rules and regulations may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.
- Schedules may vary based on business needs due to the cyclical nature of hospitality.
- Attendance at scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
Compensation: USD 25 per hour.
