Summary
In this leadership position, the Front Desk Manager directs front office operations, enhances guest experiences, and develops staff to sustain high service standards, while ensuring efficient check-in/out, safety protocols, and collaboration across departments.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Front Office team to check guests in and out efficiently, with courtesy and professionalism.
- Address guests' needs and concerns promptly, emphasizing service recovery when applicable.
- Ensure compliance with safety and security policies and procedures.
- Interview, hire, coach, and develop team members; evaluate performance and take corrective action as needed to maintain accountability.
- Set goals, provide ongoing feedback, and recognize and reward staff progress.
- Prepare and adjust weekly schedules in line with staffing guidelines and labor forecasts.
- Authorize requests for personal time off, holidays, schedule changes, overtime, and expenditures.
- Review guest comments and ensure problems are identified and resolved promptly.
- Maintain effective communication between the Front Office and other departments.
- Monitor and maintain Front Office systems and equipment for optimal performance.
- Coordinate activities with concierge partners, valet, taxi services, and airport connections to deliver high quality service.
Requirements
Minimum experience: 2 years
- Must be highly organized and results oriented, able to adapt and perform in a fast paced, changing environment.
- Ability to handle stressful situations calmly with sound judgment.
- Clear and direct communication with guests using a positive and articulate speaking voice.
- Strong interpersonal skills, capable of working with diverse personalities with tact and flexibility.
- Excellent supervisory abilities.
- Initiative to drive change and pursue continuous improvement.
- Three years of Front Office experience in a hotel property of similar size and quality.
- Two years of supervisory or managerial experience in Front Office.
- Experience with Opera PMS is preferred.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Hotel or hospitality degree is an asset.
