Job Description

At Crowne Plaza Hotel in Greenville, SC, the Housekeeping Inspector plays a hands-on, leadership-focused role in supporting day-to-day room and public area readiness. Working onsite, you will supervise housekeeping operations with an emphasis on a safe environment, consistent cleanliness, and high levels of guest satisfaction while helping protect hotel assets and keep expenses controlled.

This full-time position reports to the Housekeeping Manager and includes acting duties when the manager is absent. The role works scheduled days and times that may vary based on need, typically starting at 8:00 AM and ending around 5:00 AM, with an 8-hour shift on day and night schedules.

Key responsibilities

  • Supervise the housekeeping staff, maintaining open communication while training, coaching, and counseling team members and providing performance feedback to support efficient operations.
  • Inspect and oversee cleaning quality across guest rooms, turndown service, public spaces, and back-of-house areas, ensuring compliance with accident and loss prevention programs, LSOPs, SOPs, and health and sanitation standards.
  • Distribute assignments to staff by reviewing special requests and identifying priority areas to keep workflow moving smoothly.
  • Manage supplies and inventory control by issuing supplies/goods to staff at the start of each shift so proper items are available while controlling expenses.
  • Handle guest requests and concerns to support satisfaction, reporting issues in a timely manner to the Service Promise Help Desk and fully complying with the Service Promise program.
  • Maintain Lost and Found controls by logging items and answering inquiries.
  • Support emergency readiness through implementing emergency training and procedures to protect hotel, guest, staff, and company assets.
  • Act as Acting Housekeeping Manager when the Housekeeping Manager is absent.
  • Secure hotel spaces and equipment, ensuring all areas including guest rooms and storage areas are locked and secured throughout the day and before leaving, and confirming equipment and section keys are accounted for and secured.
  • Assist during peak needs as required, including cleaning rooms, cleaning the lobby, completing turndown service, and trash removal.
  • Support special projects and hotel initiatives, including participation in committees and task force assignments as directed.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent (preferred).
  • Working knowledge of housekeeping and the hotel’s (and Interstate’s) services, policies, and operations, with knowledge typically learned on-the-job.
  • Supervisory skills.
  • Communication ability to share information and hotel services with management and guests; a second language is a plus.
  • Experience: one to two years in a related position with this company or other organizations; cleaning experience (preferred, 1 year) and hotel experience (preferred, 1 year).
