Steward PM

At THE UMSTEAD HOTEL & SPA, the Steward/Dishwasher plays a key role in keeping the culinary back-of-house running smoothly. This onsite position focuses on daily kitchen sanitation and organization, supporting a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment across the dish pit, service areas, and equipment.

You will handle day-to-day dishwashing and cleaning tasks while following Umstead safety standards and procedures. Work includes washing and sanitizing a range of food service items, managing waste and floor care, and keeping dish pit areas properly set up and maintained.

Responsibilities

• Complete daily kitchen cleaning duties to maintain a safe, clean, sanitary, and organized environment.
• Carry out work efficiently and effectively to support overall cleanliness in the kitchen area, dish pit, waste disposal areas, storerooms, and food service equipment.
• Perform daily washing and sanitizing of china, glassware, silverware, pots, pans, and food service equipment.
• Maintain proper daily floor care, including trash, cardboard, and grease removal.
• Keep the kitchen dish pit area clean, sanitary, safe, and organized, ensuring service items are maintained and equipment is clean and in proper working condition.
• Follow Umstead safety policies and procedures, use personal protective equipment, and immediately document and report injuries and/or incidents to management.
• If working the last shift of the day, properly break down the dish pit area.
• Maintain a professional, clean, and well-groomed appearance at all times.
• Maintain a positive attitude and communicate clearly and professionally in line with the Vision and Values.
• Perform other appropriate duties requested by the Sous Chefs and/or Executive Chef.
• Attend departmental staff meetings as scheduled.

Requirements

• Ability to lift 50 to 75 pounds.
• Ability to use personal protective equipment.
