Valet Attendant
Job Description
Lafayette Park Hotel & Spa in Lafayette, California, seeks a professional Valet Attendant to warmly welcome guests, manage vehicle parking, and assist with light bell services that help sustain a refined luxury experience. In this role, you’ll be the first and last point of contact for arrivals and departures, ensuring safety, efficiency, and a polished guest journey from curb to concierge.
Responsibilities
- Greet guests and visitors promptly with a warm, friendly, and professional demeanor.
- Deliver exceptional guest service throughout each interaction while representing Lafayette Park Hotel & Spa.
- Safely park, retrieve, and deliver guest vehicles following established valet procedures.
- Maintain secure control of guest keys at all times and follow key control procedures.
- Conduct a visual inspection of each arriving vehicle and document any existing damage accurately.
- Assist guests with luggage during arrival and departure.
- Welcome guests by opening vehicle and hotel entrance doors when appropriate.
- Escort guests to the Front Desk and provide an overview of hotel amenities and services.
- Provide directions, transportation assistance, and recommendations for hotel amenities and local attractions.
- Respond promptly to guest requests while maintaining a positive, service-focused attitude.
- Keep the porte cochere, valet podium, and guest arrival areas clean, organized, and inviting.
- Monitor the arrival drive to ensure safe and efficient traffic flow.
- Communicate effectively with the Front Desk, Guest Services, Housekeeping, Engineering, and other departments to ensure seamless guest service.
- Assist with luggage delivery, room escorts, package assistance, or other limited bell services when business demands require.
- Promote hotel amenities, including Park Bistro & Bar, The Spa at The Park, and other hotel offerings.
- Coordinate vehicle retrieval efficiently to minimize guest wait times.
- Maintain valet equipment in excellent working condition and report maintenance concerns promptly.
- Follow all departmental policies, procedures, safety guidelines, and service standards.
- Operate guest vehicles responsibly while adhering to traffic laws and hotel driving procedures.
- Immediately report accidents, vehicle damage, safety concerns, or guest incidents to management.
- Work cooperatively with all hotel departments to provide an exceptional luxury guest experience.
- Promptly acknowledge every guest within 10 feet with eye contact, a smile, and a warm greeting.
- Protect guest privacy and maintain strict confidentiality regarding guest information and vehicles.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.

- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with guests, fellow associates, and management.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and resolve guest concerns using sound judgment and service recovery skills.
- Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and follow written and verbal instructions, policies, and operating procedures.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English to communicate with guests and associates.
- Ability to safely operate vehicles with automatic and manual transmissions, including luxury, electric, hybrid, and high-performance vehicles.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling guest information and personal property.
- Awareness of surroundings while working in active vehicle traffic and pedestrian areas.
- Basic computer or mobile device proficiency for utilizing valet systems and hotel technology.
- Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules based on business needs.
- Bi-lingual or multilingual communication skills are preferred but not required.
- Must meet all legal age requirements for operating guest vehicles and performing essential duties.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Physical Demands
- Regular walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, and entering or exiting guest vehicles during shifts.
- Occasional lifting or carrying of luggage weighing up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment
- Outdoor work conditions are common, with exposure to weather while on duty.
- Moderate noise level typical of front-of-house operations.
Grooming

Pay Scale
Hourly rate of $16.90 plus gratuities.
