Banquet Captain
Job Description
The Banquet Captain at Deloitte University Hotel & Conference Center helps deliver smooth, high-standard banquet service in Westlake, TX. In this full-time role onsite, you will supervise staff, coordinate assigned banquet events from set-up through breakdown, and follow property and banquet policies and procedures to keep service consistent.
Working evening shifts and some weekends, you will review banquet event details in advance, lead pre-event communication, and remain available during service for client-driven changes. The position pays $22.00 per hour (flat rate, no tips).
Key Responsibilities
- Review all BEO (banquet event orders) prior to each event to confirm staffing, supplies, dishware, and drinks readiness.
- Oversee banquet events including pre-work such as cleaning, polishing, organizing, and setting up drink stations.
- Ensure the banquet event room setup meets the standards outlined in the BEO.
- Run staff pre-event meetings to communicate the plan and service standards for the event.
- Monitor events to support flawless service and assist Servers and Bartenders as needed.
- Stay attentive to client needs during the event and be available for changes.
- Oversee event breakdown so it closes on time and items are placed in appropriate areas, including food, beverages, linen, supplies, and dishware.
- Provide feedback to staff based on positive and not-so-positive actions observed during the event.
- Train staff on the standards and tasks assigned to Servers and Bartenders, monitor Peer Trainer activities, and spot check new associate training.
- Recap events with BEO distribution to Meeting Planners or Clients and complete the end-of-shift Captains report.
Requirements
- Experience in the hospitality industry required; F&B banquet experience is desirable.
- Experience as a departmental trainer or supervisor is preferred.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook; Microsoft Teams and OneNote experience is desirable.
- Knowledge of an F&B Point of Sale system is preferred.
- Basic Food Safety Certification and Texas Alcohol Beverage Commission Certification required within 30 days of starting, with re-certification as needed.
