Banquet Captain

Join Hotel Indigo Pittsburgh University-Oakland in Pittsburgh, PA (onsite) as a Banquet Captain. This role supports an energetic team delivering guest service standards during assigned banquet functions. You will help set the stage for memorable events, coordinate with banquet colleagues, and provide clear communication when management is not on the floor.

What you’ll do

• Review Banquet Staff’s Event Orders to confirm all details are accurate before service begins.
• Set up banquet rooms as directed by management and verify the room setup matches the Banquet Event Order.
• Serve food and/or beverages in the expected order and according to supervisor direction to maintain consistency across the event.
• Replenish beverages and food items as needed and check with guests to support satisfaction throughout the function.
• Act as the point of contact for group representatives when management is not present.
• Share Banquet Event Order changes with the catering or convention services office and notify affected departments.
• Coordinate with banquet teammates on setups, changes, and time schedules for all functions.
• At the end of each event, inspect banquet areas to ensure equipment is returned properly and all areas are clean.
• Follow state, federal, and corporate requirements for serving alcoholic beverages, including supporting proper liquor controls.
• Maintain safe work habits, wear required protective safety equipment, and follow MSDS and OSHA standards.
• Complete additional tasks as requested by management.

What you bring

• High School diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• Previous banquet experience required

Schedule, physical requirements, and context

Your schedule varies and includes working on holidays and weekends. The role involves standing for extended periods, walking, pushing, lifting up to 35 pounds, and movements including bending and reaching, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
