Hotel General Manager
Job Description
The Hotel General Manager is responsible for the day-to-day leadership of a hotel property, ensuring reliable operations, strong guest experiences, and adherence to brand and compliance standards. This onsite role in Columbus, OH focuses on operational oversight, team performance, revenue management, and continuous improvement across departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all hotel operations, including front desk management, guest services, housekeeping, food and beverage, and maintenance to support smooth daily functioning.
- Lead and supervise staff across departments by providing guidance, training, and conducting performance evaluations to maintain an efficient, motivated team.
- Manage revenue through pricing strategies, budgeting, and financial planning to support profitability goals.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with hospitality standards, health and safety regulations, and company policies.
- Maintain strong guest relations by responding to inquiries promptly, resolving issues efficiently, and supporting high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Coordinate with human resources on staffing needs, recruitment efforts, and employee development programs.
- Direct the implementation and use of hotel management systems, including multi-line phone systems, reservation platforms, and guest communication tools to improve operational efficiency.
- Complete regular audits such as night audits and quality inspections to uphold service standards.
- Develop marketing initiatives to promote property amenities and attract new clientele.
- Support a positive workplace culture that encourages teamwork, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Proven experience in hotel management or hospitality leadership roles with supervision experience in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong knowledge of hospitality management principles, including revenue management, guest services, human resources, and budgeting.
- Effective leadership skills with the ability to motivate diverse teams across multiple departments.
- Multilingual or bilingual abilities are highly desirable for communicating with international guests.
- Demonstrated expertise in customer service and guest relations strategies.
- Familiarity with hotel management software and procedures, including front desk operations and night audit procedures.
- Exceptional communication skills, including phone etiquette and the ability to handle multi-line phone systems effectively.
