Assistant Housekeeping Manager
Job Description
The Sonnenalp Hotel in Vail, CO is seeking a Full-Time, Year-Round Assistant Housekeeping Manager to support the Director of Housekeeping in maintaining cleanliness standards and coordinating daily housekeeping operations onsite.
Primary Purpose of Position
Assist the Director of Housekeeping in maintaining the highest standards for guest rooms, restaurants, and public areas, with a focus on cleanliness and housekeeping service delivery. The role is responsible for consistently delivering the Sonnenalp cleanliness standards and ensuring strong levels of product maintenance and care.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Director of Housekeeping with interviewing, hiring, coaching, scheduling, training, and reviewing performance for housekeeping, floral, uniform, and laundry staff
- Perform housekeeping, laundry, and floral operational functions as needed
- Prepare or assist with housekeeping assignments for housekeepers and supervisors, supervise on the floors, and check guestrooms for cleanliness
- Conduct spot checks of guest rooms behind room attendants and turndown attendants to verify accuracy and consistency
- Provide feedback and prepare employee evaluations; provide coaching and guidance for employees
- Check public areas and the spa throughout the day to ensure ongoing cleanliness
- Maintain inventory for storage areas and housekeeping closets, keeping them up to date
- Assist with ordering guestroom and laundry supplies
- Handle guest complaints with concern and empathy, and follow up to ensure complete satisfaction
- Provide feedback to staff as needed
- Train staff members on an ongoing basis to support LHW standards
- Respond to guest requests in a timely manner
- Track employee attendance and enter or edit employee punches in Paychex as needed
- Assist in laundry, mini bar, and rooms when needed
- Attend daily meetings and actively participate in committees assigned to the role
- Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and conduct
- Use HotSOS for guest requests and maintenance work orders
- Report safety hazards, concerns, or incidents to appropriate management
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required
- Minimum 1 year housekeeping experience required
- Minimum 1 year experience in a supervisory position required
- Capable of independent judgment and solid decision-making
- Ability to anticipate guest needs, adjust goals and direction quickly, and multitask
- Self-motivated with the ability to accomplish goals under minimal supervision at times
- Proficiency with computer systems
- Flexible availability required, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Knowledge of OSHA and safety standards within the Housekeeping department
- Must be able to stand for the duration of the shift
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry approximately 25 lbs minimum and carry up to 50 lbs
- Ability to kneel, bend, and crawl; ability to work in confined spaces
- Ability to tolerate exposure to dust and cleaning chemicals
Preferred Qualifications
- College degree preferred
- Experience with HMS or similar Property Management System preferred
- English and Spanish fluency preferred

Compensation & Performance
- USD 56,500 - 67,800 per year
- Up to 10% annual performance bonus
