Job Description

Located on Kalakaua Avenue in Waikiki, Hotel La Croix was built in 1972 as Hawaii's first Hyatt Lodge and is undergoing redevelopment into a premier destination boutique hotel. The property embraces a culture of excellence that blends natural beauty with innovative hospitality, guided by a shared ethos of love and aloha.

Location: Honolulu, HI (onsite). Salary: USD 54,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Support the planning of both short and long term housekeeping operations.
  • Organize, coordinate, and supervise housekeeping projects from kickoff to completion.
  • Maintain detailed project trackers, timelines, task lists, and completion reports.
  • Follow up with team members, department leaders, contractors, and vendors on outstanding tasks.
  • Identify project delays and operational concerns, presenting solutions to management.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure cleanliness, safety, quality and presentation standards are met.
  • Coordinate deep cleaning, preventive maintenance, room-improvement initiatives, inventory organization, and public-area cleaning assignments.
  • Monitor improvement projects in guest rooms, corridors, storage, laundry, and back-of-house areas.
  • Provide leadership with regular updates on project status, completed work, upcoming priorities, and potential concerns.
  • Support daily housekeeping operations and ensure guest rooms and public areas are cleaned, inspected, and maintained.
  • Inspect guest rooms and public areas to ensure alignment with hotel standards.
  • Maintain and enhance the department’s room inspection program.
  • Assist in determining appropriate staffing levels based on occupancy, project demands, and guest-service goals.
  • Monitor employee productivity, quality of work, attendance, and completion of responsibilities.
  • Coach, train, supervise, and mentor housekeeping staff from multilingual and multicultural backgrounds.
  • Instruct team members on greeting guests professionally and responding to guest requests courteously.
  • Collaborate closely with Front Office, Engineering, Maintenance, Food and Beverage, and other departments.
  • Monitor housekeeping and laundry supplies, linen inventories, par levels, equipment, and storage areas.
  • Assist with purchasing linens, cleaning supplies, guest-room products, and housekeeping equipment.
  • Work with vendors to ensure pricing, delivery, product quality, and equipment maintenance.
  • Research and recommend updated housekeeping equipment, cleaning methods, and laundry technology.
  • Assist with departmental budgets, labor-cost plans, purchasing controls, and operational objectives.
  • Ensure housekeeping projects stay within approved budgets and timelines.
  • Support special room preparations, VIP arrivals, extended-stay guests, and guests with accessibility or service needs.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, ADA, safety, security, sanitation, and hotel policies and procedures.
  • Complete operational reports, project updates, inspection records, and administrative documentation.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by hotel leadership.
  • Create and maintain clear project plans with deadlines, priorities, and responsible team members.
  • Track progress of each housekeeping project and confirm when work is completed.
  • Document before-and-after conditions where appropriate.
  • Conduct follow-up inspections to verify deficiencies have been corrected.
  • Prioritize urgent projects that affect guest satisfaction, room availability, safety, or hotel operations.
  • Coordinate project work to minimize disruptions to guests and hotel departments.
  • Prepare weekly project-completion summaries for hotel leadership.
  • Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency, cleanliness, productivity, and accountability.

Requirements

  • Three or more years of hotel or hospitality experience required.
  • Two or more years of professional cleaning or housekeeping experience required.
  • Previous housekeeping supervisory or management experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience coordinating projects, assignments, renovations, deep-cleaning programs, or operational improvements preferred.
  • Experience purchasing linens, housekeeping supplies, cleaning products, or equipment preferred.
  • Hotel opening, renovation, repositioning, or pre-opening experience is an asset.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Hotel or hospitality degree is an asset.
  • Experience using a hotel Property Management System preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Excellent organizational, administrative, interpersonal, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate project trackers, reports, schedules, and inspection records.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate employees.
  • Ability to interact professionally with individuals from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.
