Front Desk Agent
Job Description
Warrior Hotel is hiring a part-time Front Desk Agent onsite in Sioux City, IA (flexible for part-time/full-time coverage).
Responsibilities
- Provide professional, courteous guest service to arriving, departing, and in-house guests with accurate, timely information
- Answer telephone and in-person inquiries for reservations, hotel information, and guest concerns
- Greet and welcome guests upon arrival; use guests’ names
- Register guests into the computer by verifying reservations, addresses, and credit information
- Perform check-in and check-out tasks accurately and efficiently
- Accept payment for guest accounts at registration and at checkout
- Maintain a house bank, submit a deposit, and complete a daily accurate receipts report
- Cash checks and exchange currency for guests
- Control entrance and issue keys for safety deposit boxes
- Post miscellaneous charges as requested
- Resolve guest complaints promptly
- Handle messages, wake-up calls, mail, and faxes properly
- Assist guests with luggage during arrival and departure
- Support laundry and dry cleaning needs
- Know of incoming VIPs
- Promote the preferred guest program and provide recognition and benefits to current members
- Support revenue goals by offering upgraded rooms, promoting hotel amenities/outlets, and seeking last-room opportunities
- Have complete knowledge of hotel rooms, function space, restaurant (if applicable), other outlets, services, and regularly re-stock and sell pantry items
- Understand franchise honors program requirements
- Ensure all customers establish credit upon check-in and follow credit and inventory control procedures (including name/address verification and approval codes)
- Identify and record special billing instructions and notify accounting
- Complete shift closing accurately, including required approval signatures and authorization codes
- Adhere to policies for cash banks and review the communication log book each shift; update it for the next shift
- Report potential sales contacts to the sales department to protect guests’ room numbers
- Follow all applicable Company Standard Operating Procedures and company work rules, procedures, and policies
- Support teamwork with open communication across departments and provide help to other departments during emergency situations
- Maintain effective communication through meetings, log books, and bulletins; respond positively to ideas and accept critical/developmental feedback
- Perform other assignments as directed by the General Manger
Requirements
- High School diploma / Secondary qualification or equivalent
- Experience with Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham, or Hyatt processes and standards
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace
- Good communication skills (verbal and written)
- Basic computational ability and basic computer skills
- Extensive knowledge of the hotel, its services and facilities; general knowledge of the city and attractions
- Most tasks are performed indoors in a moderate, controlled environment
- Ability to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 4 hours (varies by day and task)
- Ability to reach other departments on a timely basis
- Lifting up to 15 lbs occasionally
- Ability requirements include grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, and climbing
- Ability to spend extended time viewing a computer screen
- Manual and finger dexterity to use and operate necessary office equipment
- Passion for people and service; strong communication with guests and employees
- Reading/writing used often for paperwork and logging issues/complaints/requests/information updates
- Basic math used frequently for cash and credit handling
- Problem-solving and reasoning skills; ability to motivate and train others as needed
- Flexible schedule required, including nights, weekends and/or holidays

Compensation: USD 14 - 16 per hour. Job type: part time. Location: Sioux City, IA (onsite).
