Housekeeping Assistant Manager
Job Description
Supervise and coordinate daily housekeeping operations, support guest room readiness, and step in for the Executive Housekeeper as needed at The Colony Hotel.
Responsibilities
- Directly supervise and coordinate daily housekeeping activities in the absence of the Executive Housekeeper, including oversight of room attendants, laundry attendants, housemen, and public area associates
- Perform daily inspections of guest rooms, public spaces, back-of-house areas, and all housekeeping zones; complete inspection sheets accurately and thoroughly
- Identify and report guest room physical condition deficiencies to the General Manager, Executive Housekeeper, or Maintenance Supervisor as appropriate; follow up to support room readiness
- Assist the Executive Housekeeper with the weekly housekeeping schedule to meet hotel and guest needs while managing labor aligned with financial objectives
- Support daily room assignments and special project assignments for housekeeping staff
- Communicate room status changes clearly and promptly to the Front Desk and relevant departments throughout each shift
- Interview applicants, orient new hires, and provide ongoing training for housekeeping associates to improve job knowledge, skill level, and performance standards
- Coach and counsel associates to encourage positive behaviors, correct performance issues, and support continued growth
- Promote teamwork and positive associate morale across the department
- Assist with cleaning guest rooms as needed based on business volume and timing requirements
- Help maintain clean, orderly storerooms and properly stocked housekeeping carts alongside housekeepers and housemen
- Ensure consistent laundry room procedures and sanitation standards; perform laundry duties as required based on business volume
- Inspect housekeeping staff grooming and attire; address any deficiencies professionally and promptly
- Interpret and enforce company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with safety programs, the Associate Handbook, and local house policies
- Participate in monthly department meetings to review new procedures, share updates, and solicit team input
- Support the Executive Housekeeper and Front Office team in maintaining the lost-and-found program per established procedures
- Maintain energy management programs and inspect adherence as it relates to the housekeeping department
- Perform Manager on Duty responsibilities as assigned, acting as the senior leader on property during those times and using sound judgment
- Follow safety and security procedures; immediately report accidents, injuries, and unsafe working conditions to the appropriate manager or HR
- Communicate effectively with other departments and managers using clear, professional verbal and written communication
- Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and protect company assets at all times
- Complete other duties assigned by the Executive Housekeeper or General Manager

- Flexible schedule availability including varying days, shifts, weekends, and holidays without exception
- Bilingual English and Spanish is strongly preferred
- 2 or 4 year degree in business, hospitality management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
- Minimum 1 year of previous supervisory experience in housekeeping or a related hospitality environment, or demonstrated leadership ability in a comparable role
- Ability to function in a Manager on Duty capacity as necessary
- Ability to perform all physical requirements of the role with or without reasonable accommodation
- Working knowledge of housekeeping operations, sanitation standards, and health and safety compliance
- Proficiency with basic computer tools for scheduling, communication, and reporting

Physical Requirements
- Highly active, physical role requiring standing for up to 8 consecutive hours and moving throughout the property for the full duration of each shift
- Comfort with bending, twisting, lifting, squatting, reaching overhead and below the knee, and climbing ladders and stairs to complete thorough inspections and operational support
- Ability to move, lift, carry, push, and pull objects up to 30 lbs
- Inspection duties include bending, reaching, and twisting to examine tubs, toilets, showers, under beds, under and behind furniture, under sinks, and all other areas of a guest room or public space
- May require moving some furniture such as chairs, tables, and mattresses
- All physical requirements can be performed with or without reasonable accommodation
Pay
- $22.50 - $24.00 per hour
