Housekeeping Supervisor
Job Description
Support the daily operation of the Housekeeping Department and help maintain consistent cleanliness and presentation across the Iron Horse Hotel.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily housekeeping operations and provide direction to room attendants, housepersons, and laundry staff
- Assign guestrooms and daily responsibilities based on occupancy, arrivals, departures, stayovers, and operational needs
- Inspect cleaned guestrooms to confirm they meet Hotel standards for cleanliness, maintenance, and presentation before release
- Maintain accurate room statuses in the Hotel’s property management system and immediately communicate discrepancies to the Front Desk
- Conduct regular inspections of public spaces including hallways, elevators, public restrooms, lobby areas, stairwells, and other areas
- Keep housekeeping areas clean and organized, including carts, closets, linen areas, storage rooms, and other back-of-house spaces
- Monitor inventory for linen, terry, guest supplies, cleaning products, and other departmental items
- Identify maintenance needs during room inspections and promptly report or submit items for repair
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests and housekeeping-related concerns
- Assist with training and onboarding new housekeeping employees
- Coach employees on cleaning standards, productivity, safety, guest service, and proper equipment and chemical use
- Monitor performance and communicate performance or attendance concerns to management
- Ensure lost-and-found procedures are followed, with items properly documented and secured
- Ensure compliance with Hotel safety, sanitation, chemical-handling, and security procedures
- Coordinate closely with Front Desk and Maintenance to maximize room availability and minimize rooms out of service
- Support deep-cleaning programs, preventative maintenance initiatives, and special cleaning projects
- Verify assigned work is completed before employees leave at the end of shift
- Assist with scheduling and personnel planning based on occupancy and business levels
- Clean guestrooms and perform room attendant duties when required due to shortages, call-offs, high occupancy, heavy room turns, or other operational needs
- Assist with laundry, public-area cleaning, or other housekeeping functions as needed
- Maintain professional communication with employees, guests, and other departments
- Complete other duties as assigned by Hotel management
Requirements
- Previous hotel housekeeping experience required
- Previous supervisory or lead housekeeping experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent cleanliness standards
- Ability to lead, coach, and hold team members accountable
- Flexible availability including weekends, holidays, and varying shifts based on hotel occupancy and business needs

Physical Requirements
- Prolonged standing and walking
- Frequent bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting
- Ability to perform essential room attendant and housekeeping duties, including cleaning guestrooms, making beds, handling linen, moving housekeeping carts, and lifting and carrying housekeeping supplies and equipment
Performance Expectations
- Ensure guestrooms and public areas consistently meet Hotel standards
- Confirm rooms are inspected and released accurately and efficiently
- Ensure housekeeping employees complete assigned responsibilities
- Maintain timely, effective communication between Housekeeping, Front Desk, and Maintenance
- Demonstrate ownership, attention to detail, reliability, professionalism, and willingness to support the team by cleaning guestrooms when operationally necessary
