Steward - Banquets

The Steward - Banquets position at Hotel Kansas City is responsible for keeping all hotel china, silverware and cookware clean while delivering reliable service in a fast-paced, guest-facing environment. This onsite role in Kansas City, Missouri requires good communication, the ability to lift moderate weight, and the stamina to perform under busy service conditions.

Responsibilities

• Operate the pot-washing and dishwashing machines to ensure clean wares are ready for use.
• Maintain a hygienic workspace in line with hygiene regulations and company standards.
• Perform general cleaning as directed and ensure the correct PPE is worn.
• Sweep, mop, wipe surfaces, and manage trash disposal in a timely manner.
• Clean coolers, freezers, and back hallways to maintain order and sanitation.
• Keep kitchen and back-of-house areas clean, store equipment properly, and follow the cleaning schedule.
• Adhere to Health, Hygiene and Safety guidelines when handling hazardous substances.
• Report maintenance needs or hazards to the supervisor on duty.
• Maintain the kitchen supply of china, glasses and silverware in good condition.
• Assist with plating and dish-out of menu orders when required to support the kitchen team.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Executive Chef and Director of Food and Beverage.

Requirements

• Strong working knowledge of accepted sanitation standards.
• 1 to 2 years of stewarding experience preferred.
• Availability to work nights, weekends and holidays.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English to communicate with colleagues and supervisors.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage busy periods with composure.
• Education: High school diploma or GED equivalency is preferred but not required.

Work Environment
