Banquet Manager
Job Description
The Banquet Manager oversees all banquet and special event operations at Hotel Alex Johnson, focusing on financial accountability, leadership, staff development, guest service, cost and quality controls, and F&B sales support.
Responsibilities
- Oversee every facet of the banquet department's operations for hotel banquets and events.
- Collaborate with LIV Sales to drive banquet revenue by developing LIV approved menus, supporting site tours, leading BEO meetings, and other sales related activities as needed.
- Coordinate with Sales, the F&B Director, hotel and casino leadership, and clients to ensure flawless execution of each banquet and event.
- Manage profitability, staff training, service quality, and equipment upkeep within the banquet department.
- Represent the Banquet Department at trade shows, community events, and other on and off-site functions.
- Stay current on banquet industry trends, themes, equipment, and strategies to deliver distinctive guest experiences that differentiate LIV properties while driving profitability.
- Oversee front and back of house banquet operations with responsibility for cost controls, food quality, efficiency, and service standards.
- Ensure 100 percent compliance with health codes, health and liquor licensing, and other regulatory requirements.
- Train all staff to responsibly serve alcohol in accordance with South Dakota liquor laws.
- Measure profitability for each event and provide management with monthly financial summaries.
- Analyze area competition to understand the evolving banquet market and develop strategies to increase market share for banquets and special events.
- Collaborate with the Alex Johnson Sales team on guest recovery efforts as needed.
Requirements
- Minimum of two years of banquet management experience, including BEO management and direct work with banquet clients.
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite, including Teams and Excel.
- Proven track record of delivering excellent guest service in all aspects of banquet operations.
- Ability to read and interpret department financial statements and use data to improve profit margins.
- Advanced knowledge of food safety, sanitation, banquet setup, service styles, and food production and hot holding techniques.
- Strong delegation skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to work any shift including nights, weekends, and holidays.
