Job Description

Banquet Set Up at Hilton Garden Inn in Cedar Rapids, IA is responsible for preparing and organizing all event attributes, ensuring Brand Standards and Banquet Department procedures are followed, and assisting with event preparation and cleanup.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and breakdown banquet meeting space per Event Order instructions, including tables, table accessories (salt, pepper, sugar, breadsticks, etc.), table linens, table settings, centerpieces, dishes, audiovisual equipment, and all other event provisions.
  • Assist with anticipated demand preparations, table setting, utensil plating, and centerpiece arrangement.
  • Support Banquet Manager with any pre-event needs.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of banquet spaces before, during, and after events.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all guests you encounter.
  • Communicate with Banquet Manager as well as other banquet staff.
  • Ensure guest comfort by addressing pre-event needs.
  • Double check all documentation to ensure every aspect of the event is correct.
  • Adhere to company and Brand Standards.
  • Support other staff to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Observe Health Department guidelines for food handling and sanitation.
  • Manage audiovisual equipment needed for all events.
  • Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures, including reporting accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to management.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

The Banquet Set Up role centers on preparing and organizing all elements for special functions and events while ensuring Brand Standards and Banquet Department operating procedures are followed. It also involves assisting with event preparation and cleanup of the area used for events. Weekend availability is required, with flexible scheduling.

Supervisory Responsibilities

No direct supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience

  • High School education or GED required to accomplish the essential functions of the job.
  • Previous experience with medium to large groups preferred.
  • Knowledge of catering practices preferred.
