Front Desk Supervisor
Job Description
The Front Desk Supervisor at The Ohioan Hotel and Event Center provides hands-on leadership for front desk operations during defined times, helping keep service consistent from shift to shift. This onsite role in Lewis Center, OH includes lead coverage, support to front desk associates when Operations leadership is away, and supervision of department personnel to maintain safe, efficient guest service.
With at least 1 year of experience, you will step in for coverage needs, manage key on-duty responsibilities when required, and support scheduling, communication, and emergency response. The role also contributes to departmental goals by recommending policies and procedures and modeling positive guest service standards.
Front Desk Supervisor Responsibilities
- Perform lead functions at the front desk as needed, including stand-alone shifts.
- Review previous day paperwork to confirm items posted correctly.
- Cover scheduled breaks for front desk personnel for assigned shifts.
- Complete front desk projects assigned by the Rooms Leadership team.
- Provide support and be present for other front desk associates when the Director of Operations or Operations Managers are absent.
- May assume the Property Supervisor on Duty role, including guest recovery, cash handling, employee relations on designated shifts, and necessary reporting.
- Assist with producing weekly schedules in assigned areas to accommodate guest needs.
- Attend meetings, workshops, and seminars to convey and gather information needed for the role.
- Recommend policies, procedures, or actions to support department goals and objectives.
- Respond to emergencies, including after-hours situations, to address immediate safety concerns.
- Respond to inquiries from internal and external parties to provide information, facilitate communication, and direct requests appropriately.
- Supervise department personnel, including hiring and termination recommendations, planning and coordinating activities, training, advising, and consulting to help ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support the efficient functioning of the department.
- Serve as a positive example for staff regarding guest service and satisfaction.
Requirements
- Previous 1-2 years of experience at a full service hotel or event center preferred.
- Ability to perform math and read information, compose a variety of documents, and facilitate group discussions; analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.
- Flexibility to work independently with others across a wide variety of circumstances.
- Problem-solving skills to analyze issues and create action plans.
- Leadership and direction, mechanical aptitude, ability to manage meeting schedules and deadlines, strong organizing skills, and initiative.
- Ability to work under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods.
- Ability to direct others within a department, large work unit, and/or across several small work units.
- Opera Cloud preferred (not required).
