This onsite role in La Jolla, CA supports clean, safe, and smoothly run service operations across kitchens, bars, and steward service areas. As a Stewarding Supervisor, you assist the Stewarding Manager in directing the stewarding operation, maintaining sanitation standards, and ensuring health code compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Stewarding Manager in overseeing and directing stewarding operations across all outlets, maintaining sanitation and cleanliness in kitchens, bars, and service areas.
  • Assign and monitor completion of daily cleaning checklists.
  • Monitor collection of trash for Food and Beverage.
  • Ensure supplies and items such as chemicals, trash bags, detergents, towels, and equipment are delivered to the proper areas.
  • Organize equipment and supplies to support orderly and efficient daily operations.
  • Maintain health code standards in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
  • Participate in the interview and hiring process for line-level stewards; train team members and temporary labor to company standards; issue discipline when appropriate.
  • Draft and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for equipment, chemicals, and supplies, then train stewards on SOP-related processes.
  • Prepare schedules using a 10-day forecast, assess team working pace, and reallocate resources based on business needs.
  • Maintain dish machine equipment according to manufacturer standards.
  • Walk the service floor, moving between steward service stations to confirm line staff are in assigned areas and each area is adequately staffed.
  • Enforce health code standards and act as a point of contact for administrative or government agencies during inspections.
  • Oversee and manage staff for monthly deep-cleaning of scheduled areas.
  • Serve as point of contact for outside vendor relations.
  • Prepare and disseminate shift reports.
  • Safety is an essential function of this job.

Requirements

  • One or more years of related experience required.
  • Prior lead or supervisory experience in a similar role is desired.
  • Ability to lead others through mentoring and training to help staff meet or exceed guest expectations and deliver a high level of service.
  • Knowledge and practical experience with basic cooking skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift, move, pull, and push moderate amounts of weight.
  • Highly responsible and reliable.
  • Ability to work AM, PM, overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays as operational needs require.
  • Experience in a hotel or resort environment.
